Opinon on buying service online

Looks like I will be switching from Alltel to Cingular sometime in June. Are the online stores like WireFly or LetsTalk.com ok to deal with?

Also, this ATT thing going on... should I wait for it to happen?

Even though it seems like wirelfy has better deals... It'd be better if you buy from cingular.com. I've had several customers who purchased from these websites and had a very hard time trying to: exchange the phone (buyer's remorse) or simply finding out what to do with their defective phone. It doesn't happen all the time, but if it does; good luck to you.
Now, the ATT thing is just a name change. This is not going to affect the network at all. (well, your phone will display AT&T) but that's all. It won't make any difference if you do it in June, or later.
Good luck on whatever you do and welcome to Cingy. 😎

I probably wont port my old numbers. I've heard horror stories about that and I don't want the headache.

What is making me really lean to online stores is that I need 3 phones and I was thinkg about getting 2 Razrs and either a Nokia 6682 or a Sony Ericson W600. Online they will be FREE (after 180 day wait). Through Cingular probably cost me $300 - 400.

I don't usually have any second thoughts after I pick a phone so Im not too concerned about exhanging. But warranty could be an issue I suppose.

Porting your numbers isn't really that horrible... it's relatively quick and painless. Instead of doing it online, I would just get new numbers, then when your phones arrive, call customer care from a landline phone (or any phone which is not your new cell phone) and have your most recent Alltel bill with you. You will give C.C. your Alltel account number, the full name and billing address as it appears on the bill, and the number(s) that you are wanting to port over. It generally takes about 4 hours and your other phone numbers should work in the meantime. 🙂 Good luck to ya!

I have had two experiences with them, bad and bad. One was personally buying a handset which was bungled and I spent more time resolving the issue than money saved. Second is the same complaints we hear weekly from customers coming in trying to get help.

Doesn't seem like a good deal no matter what the savings.

i dont think they are a big deal but always buy it with a credit card that can protect you just in case.
