Hi everyone. A week or two ago my w600 was stolen, and when i called cingular they said that i do have insurance, but there would be a 50 dollar replacement fee. my question is if there is anyway of getting around paying the 50 dolalrs, because being i have payed for the insurance everymonth for about 2 years now, and the fact that my phone was stolen and i shouldnt have to pay for someone stealing my phone so once again is there anyway they can send me a phone for humm free?

also they said that because my contract dosnt end until 2007 that the cheapest phone i could get was like 145 dolars for a cheap nokia. why dont they understand that i dont have a phone and really need one,..but i refuse to pay 145 dollars, and dont really like the ...

the 50 bucks will be added to your bill whats the big problem?

there is no way you'd be able to get around that $50 charge. it's your deductable. how'd your phone get stolen? and why dont you feel you shouldn't have to pay the $50 bucks when insurance covers only LOST OR STOLEN 😳.

If you had an endorsement on your regular policy it would cost you $5 per year with no deductable.

lol..

before consumers want to get around the ETF when they breach the contract, now they want to not pay the deductable when they have insurance. what is this world coming to? lol.

you cant get out of it, plus its only $50 and is not the end of the world..

seriously, some consumers are very naive.

you might want to rethink this response you gave to a perfectly valid polite question.

If there was no deductible, everybody would get the insurance and then conveniently lose the phone if it broke or stopped working in order to replace it. If there were no deductible, the monthly premium would be substantially higher. The expenses to lockline for filling claims has to come from somewhere.

are you sure they replaced it for free? carriers always like to hide things.. but yea, you are responsible for paying the $50 deductable.

i dont know about your other question; "but is there any way of getting a phone with the 2 yr contract discount?"

Whats up Vinny?

I hate being the barer of bad news but I work for Cingular Wireless and have never seen lockline waive an insurance deductible. In some situations I have seen customers request a different model (but comparable in price) and lockline complied, but it doesn’t happen too often.

Don’t know if that will help, but I hope it does.

If your account has a plan of $75 or higher and you've had tenure with Cingular, it's possible to get an upgrade after 1 year instead of 18 months.

If they click the button and the system says you can, yes.

is that $75 for JUST the price of the minute plan or is that your total every month (minus overages) before taxes?

for instance:
59 - 900 minutes
20 - medianet
=====
79 /mo + tax

I've never seen this policy on paper before but based on what I've seen, I'd have to say it's just your voice plan before taxes.

You need to buck up, call 1-800-331-0500 right now and get a new phone sent out to you. Stop griping. You need to keep better track of your next one.

Why should you be the priveleged one who doesn't have the pay the deductible? How fair would that be if 20 people called in and paid the 50 dollar deductible and then when you called in you whimpered and made the rep make a sad face and take off the charge?

If you crash your car and have insurance but don't pay the deductible, are they just going to say "Oh ok... I feel bad for you because you don't have a car now"? No way foo.

Get another one. 50 bucks for a 300 dollar phone isn't that bad. Man up.

Rounded all out, yes, the w600i is the best phone we carry. Sorry about exploding on you but when you work for the industry, people constantly trying to pinch pennies all the time on things that are mandatory gets extremely aggravating.

Not trying to sound like a b***h here, but do you get out of paying your car insurance deductible when someone wrecks into you because you've paid it for five, ten, or however many years? Nope. Just a fact of life.

Also, the insurance company, Lock/Line, is not owned by Cingular. Therefore, they would be the ones who would have to make that decision, not Cingular. The answer will still more than likely be "no" though.

okay... do you have car insurance?

have you ever made a claim? If so, you paid a DEDUCTIBLE!!! Whether it's $500 or $1200. They don't just fix it for free.

You said, you had a W600, well MSRP on the W600 is $324.99. You have paid a total of $96 for having insurance on your phone for the last two years. With the $50 deductible you are at $146 dollars which is a savings of $78.99. 🙄

I can say this with fair certainty (actually, more than fair) that ALL wireless companies & ALL providers of wireless insurance charge a deductible, so talking about changing carriers when your contract is out because of this issue is an example of ignorance of the realities of insurance.

If they previously replaced a lost phone without a deductible, you were upgraded or either got a wonderfully undeserved deal.

Your monthly premium is to continue the insurance coverage; the premium covers the cost involved in filing and fulfilling a claim.

Think about what you're saying here.
We understand that you're frustrated about locing your phone, but you also agreed that, should you need to file for insurance replacement, that you would pay a $50.00 deductible.
I agreed, when I added insurance to my car, that if I needed to file a claim that there would be a $250.00 deductible. It would be just plain assinine and immature to decide after the car was stolen or wrecked that it is "unfair" that they charge me what I agreed to in the first place, right?
Stop trying to get over, agree to the deductible and come up with some means of paying it by the time your next bill comes out.
