I've been a Verizon customer for several years now and find the service to be great. Thinking about switching to Cingular and was wondering how service was in NYC. Thanks!

contrary to what the cingular employees will tell you, their service is not as good in NYC as VZW's. altho it is adequite if you arent really worried about reliability.

yeah! mmm hhmm! Perhaps this is why Vzw no longer says they have the most reliable network there... 🙄 They don't. They might have a kick ass network there. But it's no longer the most reliable. 😈

I dont know about nyc specific advertisments but I do know that VZW has the most reliable network in the world, not just nyc. and their phone lineup is rapidly improving.

WELL I HAVE HAD VZW,CINGULAR,AND TMOBILE.I LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY AND LOVED VERIZON, BUT I AM NO LONGER WITH THEM. NOW I HAVE TMOBILE AND IT WORKS AS GREAT AS VERIZON BUT NOT THE MOST RELIABE. CINGULAR WAS THE WORST I CAN NEVER MAKE A CALL IN MY HOUSE, I WOULD HAVE TO GET CLOSE TO THE WINDOWN TO MAKE A CALL. DO NOT LEAVE VERIZON!!! 🙂

If, as in your own words VZW is "great", why would you ever consider switching?

Phones? Employee discounts? More friends and family on Cingular? Better price points ($59.99 family plan)?

There are several reasons he may want to switch.

Agreed and that's fine, but, I just find it a little odd when someone says that their service is "great" and they may switch. Its not a slam on Cingular as this would apply to any carrier.

Better price points. You mean that I could do better than $225 a month for my wife, son and I to get 2000 minutes a month ;-')

Yeah, because people who don't use nearly that many anytime minutes each month would want to pay much less. 😉

Actually, thanks to "in", I am not using nearly that many minutes! I want to switch plans, but, I am at a point whereas if I switch, I renew my contract. At this point, I am waiting to see what new phones VZW will offer as I am disgusted with the Razr, plus, I still long to carry just one device.
