Is it Cingular or GSM?

Why is it that on every call there's a little interruption of sound. I don't know how to describe it, it's kinda like a "break up" but it's only one and it's only for a fraction of a second. Please, I am not crazy! Does anyone in here know what I'm talking about? Please I know I can't be the only one. I want to say this is due to hand off. But sometimes it happens when I'm sitting still. Is there an explanation to this break up?
The other day I got a voicemail, and because of this "break up" I couldnt call back someone. This guy called me and left me his phone number and it was something like this 555-?421. I was like 😲 ? 😳 😡 He is so HOT!!! I need to call him back! Cingular let me down 🤭

Yeah definitely...i call it "that whack blip" bc it only takes out a syllable. And as luck has it, it always happens on an important syllable like a number or name!

Who knows what it is, but my Verizon using friends dont have the problem.

My friend has Verizon (in the Tampa area, E815) and I lose him sometimes when he's driving for 2-3 seconds. I think that's even worse. And yes! it's on his end. I don't use my Cingular cell phone to talk to him cuz he liiiiiikes to talk, so I use my landline.

it might be a slight problem with the time division. GSM works sorta like TDMA does, which divides calls rapidly into different time slots, switching between calls very quickly. So sometimes maybe if there's a lot of callers on a given tower or a quick temporary signal drop that may cause a problem with the switching being done at the tower.

That could be a possible cause. Or, it might be alien death monkey's with lasers playing tricks on us. damn alien monkeys.

Just my .02 (although I would pay more attention to the first cent, rather than the second)

It might depend on your area. I am a cingular rep and I know that here in alabama we are having network issues due to tower integration. You can call customer service and report the problem and see if there are any problems in your area.

Do me a favor and come to T-Mobile, where they don't lie about the call never being dropped. We have JD Power awards to back us up, and not a so-called "independent research company" that refuses to give their name.

So you're one of those people who see something and just assume.

Honestly, take the time too read, watch, listen (or whatever) to the ads. You'll find that Cingular's claim is FEWEST dropped calls. By no means does that suggest they NEVER drop a call. Am I right?

That fewest thing is still bullcrap. I know alot of people that have Cingular have constantly lose service in the middle of call, and also can't make a call until someone calls them.

So you say. And I say it isn't, because I've dropped a whole three calls since I began using Cingular service over two years ago.

So who is right?

What's "bullcrap" to some, is not "bullcrap" to all.
