I started asking questions on this forum because I genuinely thought I needed a cell phone. However, you Cingular reps have opened my eyes. I had tried many different carriers and many different phones. Through that trial and error I found that Cingular was the the way to go for me,up until now. You people are really something! I have a very tenuous situation with elderly parents that I had to move back in with to take care of. I needed a carrier and cell phone that could give me reliability, durability, and most important of all...coverage and reception in case of emergency. I truly believe that Cingular has those qualities. The problem is that you folks have forgotten to be upfront and honest with your customers! Money is not the bottom line....

Tried Verizon. Very poor reception at my location with 2 different phones. An LG VX5200 and a Motorola E815. I work in a very old school building in a rural area. I tried 2 of my friends phones who have Cingular as a carrier. Their phones,an LG CG300 and a Motorola V557 both got great reception anywhere in the building. I also tried my sister's T-Mobile Samsung phone and another friend's Alltel Motorola phone and again, very poor reception.

WTF? Did you or did you NOT get Cingular. I finished reading your thread but I ended up confused.
Tip: Try working on you writing skills.

I think she (Im assuming its a she) said she liked cingular up until now, and is now annoyed that people from cingular are trying to get her to sign up for new services she doesnt need or want? And apparently she feels lied to for some reason but doesnt know what about..theres some identity issues going on?..
...
First of all, don't assume! I am a "he". Secondly,I have never "had" Cingular. I have "tried" phones of friends who have Cingular and Alltel and up until now Cingular had the best reception in my building. Thirdly,no one has tried to sign me up for anything because I haven't been to a store other than Verizon and T-Mobile. I puchased plans from those 2 with trial periods and got very poor reception in my building. Lastly,I feel decieved by people on this forum because you constantly bad mouth the company. I stated before that if Cingular's problem is not it's phones, coverage, and reception it has to be the attitude they put forth. I thought a forum was a place to solicit advice from those who "know" better. I guess I was wrong.

Try working on your reading and comprehension skills. I ''tried'' Verizon,Alltel,T-Modile,and Cingular phones that friends of mine have,I didn't "get" them. If I didn't make that clear then I apologize. Of all the phones and carriers I tried,Cingular was the best. I work in a very old school building in a rural area. I got the best reception with Cingular and their phones. My problem on here is that you guys bad mouth the company so much, then why should I bother? Since so many people hate Cingular I figure it's got to be the attitude, because it's definitely not the quality of the phones or the reliability of the coverage and reception.

Don't make conclusion about Cingular for the plp in a forum. The reps that trash cingular are usually from:
a-Different carriers
b-Bitter (fired by Cingular)
c- Haters (for A or B)

All of the carriers have a return policy of some sort, as not to pay ETF if canceled within. Also, people on these forums are from all over the country and beyond. Which is to say the best company for coverage here may not be the same as where you are. My point over all, things spoken of here may or may not apply to you, use the return policies and decide what works best for you personally.
Some one else's biggest complaint, may have no significance to you
...
OK,I greatly appreciate your advice. This is what I was hoping for on here, just a point in the right direction. Thanks again.

First, not everyone on here is a sales rep. Yes I am, but not everyone is.
If it was something on here that turned you off, then that's your mistake. You don't "shop" around on forums for anything, let alone a cell phone. The person telling you about the phone could be anyone from any company, hell, they might not even be associated with a wireless carrier.
I seriously doubt you were shopping for a wireless carrier, but I think you are just looking to start up some controversy.
Go away.
...
Another person who proves my point.
...
Honey this happens in all forums.
childish/diots/rude plp are everywhere, not just here. 👀
...
I thought maybe that 1 or 2 could help me though. You have opened my eyes.
...
I am seriously shopping because of a serious situation that I have. I am not looking to stir anything up,I am looking for advice....serious advice. I am not shopping for a carrier or phone on this forum, like I said earlier,I am seeking advice. You are a sales rep? Then you proved my point. You don't tell a potential buyer to "Go Away"!
...
yea, because "he" (whoops, I'm assuming, haha) is really worried that a poster on the forum thats most likely nowhere close to his store is now NOT going to come in. Live in the real world.
If you were in his store and he told you to "go away", thats a different story, as he would be in a position to set you up with service that you would like...so then he would be an idiot.
But the reality of the situation is you weren't coming to get a phone from him in the first place.
And BTW, its not so much the reps being "liars" or "rude" as much as it is a large corporate entity (that yes, is quite greedy -- like almost every large corporate entity, imagine that!) that is slowly alienating their own sales reps by pushing us towards sellin...

You're correct. I should have prefaced in my original post that it wasn't "all" sales reps. I was just asking for very serious advice for my very serious problem. I made the mistake by thinking I'd get some serious help. I never intended to stir up any controversy,I just wanted some help. Now I know that this is not the place to come for help.
...
I'm glad we educated you! 🙄
...
It's not that you can't come here for help.. I'm willing to help whoever needs it, as I have with your coverage question. The problem is, there are some not so honest people on here and they are looking to start trouble.
I'm sorry too if I jumped at you before, but I'm a little tired of people coming on here asking for help and then jumping down the throats of everyone because they got bad info from one person.
Like I said, email me at
[email protected] and I'll take a look at your coverage, and anything else I can help you with.
...
I am sorry that I jumped down throats, but I just saw so many negative comments that it just started getting to me. Even before I made my original post I read so many bad things that I just said to myself, why bother? I will email you for some further info and thanks again for your help.
...
Problem 1)
You decided to come to an anonymous forum and expected honesty from one and all.
Problem 2)
You took it personally that certain people online like to mess with people.
Problem 3)
Your posts seriously contradict themselves. If you are so old school why aren't you shopping face to face, in a store where you CAN have a relationship. Find one locally owned where you can ACTUALLY meet the owner.
I shake each and every customer's hand and look them in the eye with my values. I live in the community in which I own stores. I have to face the music if something goes wrong (and it doesn't go wrong because of me but I STILL fix it).
I am with another poster here when I doubt your sincerity, but if you are try my ...

My name is Steve. I am from Warren,Ohio. I have worked as a custodian for 26 years in a very old building in rural Fowler,Ohio for the Mathews Local School District. I moved back in with my parents to be their primary caregivers because of their illnesses. I always seek advice, study up,and put in my due diligence before I buy "in person". So much for honesty. I was looking for advice from people I thought knew what I needed to know. I could not be more sincere about this because of my situation. On a more personal note,I wish you did work in my area. You sound very much like some one I would like to deal with. You obviously care about your customers. I guess choosing a forum to get some answers was the wrong thing to do. I was naive enough t...

Not everyone on these forums is a sales rep.
Take Cigular service for what it is. Go to a store, and find yourself some genuine assistance. A forum isn't the best place to be finding the particular information you need.
I would think it a great mistake to take something from an online forum seriously, and ruin your chances at buying into quality service.

You're a real compassionate person! You ought to take a stab at politics, you'll go far! Some of the most friendly service people I've ever met work at Wal-Mart. If I can sift through the crap and pick up 2 or 3 pieces of good advice on here,I'll take it. BTW,thanks for your advice,I'll file it under crap! Hope you never get in a situation like I'm in so you won't have to worry so much! I don't want Cingular to solve my personal problems and I didn't post on here for sympathy. I just asked for some advice.

This post illustrates exactly why the mystery shop program is a waste of time. They are more concerned with getting good scores than they are with meeting customer needs. We get the "customer needs analysis" checklists that have predetermined questions we are supposed to ask. Instead of meeting the customer's needs, the checklist meets Cingular's needs. It's crap.
