Cingular's upgrade policy?

Payabill

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I searched throught 6 pages of posts and looked on Cingular's website. What is Cingular's upgrade policy? Does it go by the contract, how long you've had the phone, how long you've been a customer, or what?

Thanks for any responses!

General rule is 2 months before your contract is up to get a phone at the subsidized prices.

If you are currently a customer, on-line account management (OLAM) will give you the exact date when you become eligible for an upgrade.

its either 18 months or 21 months into your contract. it varies i guess.

my family plan when i first started said 21 months and is now 18 🤨 .i'm on a high family talk plan though. i do upgrades for folks that have had their phone on a 2 year for only 18 months too. so i'd say 18 or 21 months into your contract.

It used to be 21 months, but the policy was changed a couple months ago to 18 months when you have a 2 yr contract...

Yea, and if their arpu (avg monthly bill) is over 75.00 they are able to upgrade after 12 months on a 2 yr contract.

2 Year Contracts:

12 Months if your line is under a plan of $75 or higher, 18 months otherwise.

If you are on a family plan, extra lines are always considered $9.99 lines. The primary may be over $75 ($89.99 Family 1400 plan which is $80 on first line)

1 Year Contract:

11 Months

How long you've been a customer will only help you if you need an exceptional upgrade which is basically a regular upgrade plus $50 extra.

I work at a retail store and generally it is 21 months into a contract unless a manager overrides or you bring in enuf money to the company within a time period.

OK. I just checked the internal Cingular site and states:

Effective 2/6/06, the Northeast region is changing their Cingular GSM Upgrade eligibility criteria for customers in 2 year contracts from 21 to 18 months from date of activation or last upgrade.

Every other region it is still 21 months on a 2yr contract and 11 months on a 1yr contract.

Thank you,
