My Experience Trying to Unlock My Phone
My first two attempts yielded the typical "we'll send you an email in 5-7 business days", then nothing.
My third attempt looked positive, rep was ready to help. He gives me a code and its wrong (I tried it twice). I give him my IMEI number, I get another code, and its wrong (I tried it 3 times, I have stubby fingers). After 5 attempts, the phone says "Not Allowed" after each code entry. Rep gets tech support and they pawn it off to SE.

If I remember correctly, the unlocking procedure for SE phones states that you have to place a non-Cingular SIM and then put the codes.

That isn't true for all phones though. I have successfully unlocked Nokia's without a different carrier SIM card.
This isn't true for Samsung phones either, but we are not talking about those.
