Quesiton for Cingular Reps: North America Plan?

TehannaRep

First of all, I am a rep for T-Mobile. That has nothing to do with my question, but I didn't want anyone to think I am trolling, or trying to start something if they check my posting history. I'm actually calling on behalf of a friend of mine who is a Cingular customer.

My friend was originally on AT&T's North America plan, then he was migrated to Cingular, and believed that he was put on the North America plan.

He was not. He was put on a US plan. After his first bill, he called customer care, they apologized, and said that they would correct his plan.

This didn't happen. Second bill comes, he called again, and AGAIN was told it would be corrected.

Again, no deal. He is very frustrated, not using his phone very much, as he...

The North America plan for Cingular has been discountinued. When did your friend migrate his service? From your post I would think it was about 04/06. If that is the case there was no North America plan at that time on Cingular. The Cingular version of that plan expired on 10/7/05. The best he can to is pay $3.99 and $4.99 to discount the roaming and dialing for those countries.

Sorry

I will check to see when he migrated. I know that at T-Mobile, in a case like this, the retention department can sometimes place a customer on a grandfathered plan. My friend is thinking of canceling and paying the ETF as a result of this issue.

Is he going to have to cancel? Would your retention department be able to put him on the NA plan?

In most cases, that's what would be done, but the NA plans were actually removed from the systems, so it's not quite so easy. I know from personal experience (I used to work the Resolutions Dept, so I was the one that often had to fix these issues) that it's no piece of cake to get those plans on there. They were removed due to fraud, so it's a specific back end programming team that would have to add it.

Depending on when he migrated, the rep who helped him may have just been dumb and told him the wrong info. If he's wanting something similar to what he had before, he would have to look elsewhere, because Cingular won't have those plans again for some time.

I checked the billing system and it isn't listed. what that means is that we physically can't add it. It doesn't exist anymore. If it isn't there no one can add it. Even retention. His options are the plans I stated or that Thickjake suggested.

Thank you,

As long as I've been an ATTW and then Cingular Blue customer, the North America Package feature never included Mexico. If your friend migrated to a Cingular orange plan, then there is nothing he can do, because as the other posts have said, Cingular does not currently offer the plan.

He may be able to take over somebody else's Cingular Blue line and then get the benefit of using the North America Package feature again. There is some uncertainty about whether the blue lines that have migrated over to the orange billing system can still have the feature added. It is possible that the feature can only be added at the beginning of the billing cycle.

TehannaRep,

I used to have that North American Plan, which was the old ATT Wireless NA Plan. It included Canada and Mexico in the home calling area and in your minutes. It was a very nice plan.

I'm not advocating your friend do this, but Verizon does have a North American plan that includes Canada and Mexico in its included minutes. But he would probably have to pay the ETF at Cingular.

I switched over from the Verizon North American Plan to Cingular regular plan, even though I will have to pay roaming rates when I'm in Canada. I don't care. I think Cingular is much better than Verizon.....

IMHO
