I was looking at unlocked GSM phones on EBAY and was wondering what freq must it use in order for phone to work with Cingular. I've seen:

900
1800
1900

You want to get a phone that uses both the 850MHz and the 1900MHz. Cingular uses both. Get a phone with both, because even if Cingular only uses the 1900MHz in NC; you never know when you might have to leave town and then your phone won't work in a 850MHz area.

I've been looking on EBAY at unlocked GSM phones and most support only the 900, 1800 and 1900 but not the 850. What's an example of a phone that supports the 850. I'd like to get something that works great anywhere but also high tech camera, etc.

unfortunately the 850 is only used stateside. so units that you would get on EBAY from Asia or Europe typically wont work on the 850. You would be better off to get a quad band that has all 850/900/1800/1900 so that you are safe otherwise you will probably be completely let down by your reception. There are some quad bands that have a nice camera and functions. Be weary tho if its unlocked and not from the cingular network most of the features will not work. Just some food for thought.

To be honest I haven't check in a month or so, I am not sure of any models off the top of my head. I am actually at work right now on a terminal and our proxy will not let me to EBAY so I cannot see what models are for sale. Its not that. Cingular doesn't have any phones right now that I think you would be too impressed by (I'm not) Look for quad band for sure I was just making sure you were aware that just because its unlocked and you can get it on the network does not mean that all the features will work as if it were a phone native to the network.

Sony Ericsson w810
(as a matter of fact, any of the W series Sony Ericsson phone would be a good choice)
