Nokia 6230

Does the Nokia 6230 currently work on the Cingular network?

I've heard some negative things about the phones (ie freezing, not accepting sim cards, etc). Has anyone had any experiences using the phone, pos or neg?

Thanks.

I have the 6230 and use it with Cingy and it does freeze up. I have always used a Nokia but this one has not lived up to previous phones. I was told that it was a software issue. That has been my issue with the phone. I can lay it on the bed and it will fade out where I have to turn it back on.....but I am going to try another Nokia. The 6102i.

Yeah, that's not what I was hoping to hear....

Appreciate the insight though -- it looks like I will stay away from it...

I'm looking for a non-flip, with a decent amount of features that most importantly, has loud earpiece volume. This looked to be the ideal candidate...

Thanks. Any other suggestions in the mean time? When do you expect the 6235 to go to market?

The nokia 6682 currently offered through cingular is the best phone i have ever used. I had 3-6230's all with the same problem. They were eventually recalled due to the defects. the 6682 gives you more options, better screen, better camera, and symbian overall is a little more user friendly.

It's a nice phone, you might have issues with it freezing up.

The phone is INCOMPATIBLE with the 3G SIM cards that Cingular now uses.

You'll have to purchase a standard 64k one off of ebay or something.
