you will have to go to your local store and ask them to check your eligibility, its based on each line

In other words, each phone number will have it's own upgrade eligibility date. Did you check for both phone numbers when you got the July 29th quote?

actually if one line is not profitable it will affect all lines on an acct. what i meant in my previous post is all line will be checked and if one is not good for cingular all lines are not good for you.

Well now all the lines are treated the same. If one is eligible then all are if one is not then all are not. Its based on the account and not the line now. But on a 49.99 family talk plan then no you probally arent eligible 2 lines divided by 49.99 bassicaly $25 per month on each line. I would upgrade the plan for a coulple of months or just start going over the minutes. Oh and stop using the m2m and n&w mins

Stop using n/w and m2m minutes? You're joking right? How bout if they stop using the phone altogether and just switch carriers...

That sounds like the best option if you can't even use your phone as intended simply because Cingular has to recoup the over 4 billion dollars wasted in branding At&t to Cingular and the money it will cost to rebrand Cingular back to At&t.

Why are you doling out completely false information here. Just because they have a $49.99 FT plan does not make them ineligible for a subsidized handset discount.

The problem with the new policies is not the policy itself but the people who jump to conclusions about the effects it may have.

WTH? What kind of advise is this? lol
It is not about how much she pays a month. This new policy is about usage patterns. I had a guy with 5 lines on a FT plan for $199.99 4000RUMMUNW. He uses around 3500 peak minutes, 3000 M2M and 12000 N&W minutes. This high usage disqualified him for any type of discount.
The only explanation given to me: "Customer uses his phone so much that it costs us more to have him as a customer than what he actually pays us monthly"

IF you are profitable according to Cingular Wireless, AND IF you are already 3 months away from your contract end date (if on 2yr contract) OR 1 month away (if on 1yr contract), THEN the answer is yes you will be eligible.

Now, you mentioned that you are on a $49.99FT. This is decreasing your chances if you both use a nice number of m2m or nw.

Reps will look at your lifetime value. If you are not profitable, hence that means your score is a 1 out of 5, then you will pretty much get an invitation to cancel. Cingular doesn't want you.

IF you are not making Cingular Wireless any money, you will get the boot.

Take it from a manager. A long tenured one.

Just because they are a 1 does not mean they will be asked to leave. They won't be offered a subsidy to stay either.

Where exactly are you a manager?

The point is that Cingular wants people to leave if they are a level 1. We will welcome them to cancel & waive cancellation charges. Cingular is about the money. That is the bottom line. They won't be asked to stay. They are just not wanted within the company anymore. So how can you get rid of un-profitable customers. Don't make any enticing equipment offers. Studies has shown that customers want phones, phones, & more phones.

Where exactly am I a manager? No specifics. Fellow managers & I go to happy hour often & the last time we went, we were discussing the matter that Cingular is doing much un-ethical practices.

It's a real shame fo sho.

the 49.99 really has nothing to do with a yes or no on eligibility for upgrade. if this was the case nobody would be eligible that has a ft plan because of the 9.99 line. eligibility is based on:payment history, tenure, time since last upgrade, rate plan,on and off network usage, and data usage. i have had customers upgrade a 39.99 line but also had a customer with the 2100 minute 100 base line with 2 9.99 lines show ineligible even though they were all out of contract. there is a system they have that determines this and all we can do is go by what it tells us.

Unethical?

Exactly how is not offering an incentive to renew their agreement unethical?

Trendy_Mommy I wouldn't worry about it to much since you're about to be out of contract. Their are plenty of our competitors who would love your business and would be willing to offer you a great deal on new phones. I would say if you are deemed ineligible rather than escalating and using up your time arguing with reps and managers you should show your feelings towards Cingulars moronic top management and their customer unfriendly policies by churning (canceling your service). Management blames us lowly reps for Cingulars pitiful customer satisfaction ratings and yet ignore all the unfair policies they force upon us.

By the way, if you are ineligible and a manager in a call center takes your side and goes ahead and approves your upgr...

Fogot to say this too that if don't want to extend your contract but want a new phone you could just go buy a GoPhone (prepaid) and just use your existing sim card.

the go phone thing may work in some areas but as many other stores in my area, i have instructed my employees to activate the go phone and then put a lock code in so no other sim will work. this prevents chargebacks in which i lose money.
