First quarter 2006
1.9% churn
1.7 million Net new subscribers
Data arpu= $5.22
ARPU= $48.48

Second quarter 2006
1.7% overall churn
1.5% postpaid churn
1.5 million Net new subscribers
Data arpu= $5.77
Postpaid= $6.60
Arpu= $48.84

Total in the first half of 2006= 3.2 million
Total subscribers on network= 57.3 million.

My estimates for this 2nd half;

3rd quarter of 2005 was considerably weak and they only signed up 867,000 net new subscribers. My estimates for 3rd quarter of 2006 will be 1.3 million net new subscribers.

4th quarter of 2005 recorded a great quarter at 1.8 million net new subscribers, which I do not think that they will be able to obtain. Therefore, my estimates for 4th quarter of 2006 will...

In the information you've seen, did you see anything about rate of penetration on our PTT phones/service? I didnt see that info on any of the information that i saw, and I've just been curious to see how well that service has launched nationwide... ?

I did see from sources that the push to talk launch has not been that great and management has not addressed it, however, they think this will change. Personally, I do not think so, but I am a bit negative towards anyone who tries to do well in the push to talk market. Their focus right now is to complete the merger integration; roll out HSDPA then focus on push to talk.

thats what i had seen as well, from what i've seen in the NE it doesnt appear to be gaining a whole lot of traction, all though i have heard from some sales people down in the texas area that its real popular down there... I agree with you on anyone trying to get an edge in the PTT sector, its not a feature thatis going to bring in millions of customers, its a feature specifically aimed at a certain portion of customers, and thats about it . 😁

Unfortunately, Nextel has been doing a great job with push to talk from its existence from growing its subscriber base and market share that it will be impossible to get into, because Nextel markets to businesses, consumers with boost mobile, government and public safety officials. The problem with Cingular’s push to talk, is that they do not really advertise it a lot and it does not seem like they have been pushing it that much. I also do not think there is a way to attack any market and try to ding into the Nextel’s market place. Perhaps after they put on HSDPA, and then re-target push to talk they will do well and get some traction especially take away subscribers from Verizon and Sprint, perhaps Nextel. You saw what happened with Sprint ...

I agree, I think the only way that Cingular is going to be anywhere close to competitive with Nextel in the PTT category is if they divert a lot of aggressive advertising and agrressively price the feature. Quality wise, from what I have experienced and read about, Cingular's PTT is only a notch or two behind Nextel's, and with the right push I could see them making a dent. What they should have done was waited until they had most of the nationwide 3G network in place, then launched it. That way they could entice people who were already going to upgrade to 3G phones to go to ones with PTT. Maybe do a one month free trial, get peoples foot in the door, and then hopefully your product is good enough to keep them there. As it stands now, why ...

It is excessively difficult for anyone to attack or put a dent into Nextel’s very loyal customer base for the sectors that they market in because they own them. Doesn’t matter how bigger or better or faster the competitor’s network is it wont have an impact. Sprint and Verizon proved that quite nicely. You can rather tell with these people launching push to talk it is only with the least of features and technology and you do not see a full push because I think they feel it cannot be done.

I think carriers and consumers are both very naïve because everyone knows for example carriers will start to upgrade from 2.5g to 3g so why buy a phone now that wont be 3g capable and wait till the 3g gets rolled out? I think carriers market that very...
