More information about the 2nd quarter (2006) earnings for Cingular and at a glance
I wanted to discuss a few things more in depth that I did not earlier when I reported it and if you want to look or discuss anything, I am happy to or if you do not want to that is ok also. I also discussed in another thread about the first half of 2006 for Cingular and my estimates for the carrier for the 2nd half of 2006. In the 2nd quarter of 2005, Cingular added 952,000 net new subscribers with all of it coming from postpaid, with a voice ARPU of $50.55 with a churn of 2.2% overall and postpaid churn at 1.8%.
In the 3rd quarter of 2005, they added 867,000 total net subscribers with postpaid complying of 664,000 subscribers with a churn of 2.3% overal...

Do you have some information that shows Cingular's profitability being a problem?
Are they adding the profitability policies because investors are dissatisfied or are they just plain being greedy?

Well if you can see on their first and 2nd quarter of 2006 net income, they are positive and showing some signs of life and profitability, however, management is still concerned if they can keep this momentum. The most important situations are; margins, total net subscribers mainly in the postpaid, subsidy costs, profitablity, and acquisitions costs. Management seems to be very excited to improve on all of those metrics as well as others.
Well, since Cingular is not a publicly traded company it is difficult to tell, however, their parents BLS and AT&T’s investors/shareholders are very upset with the progress of the merger between Cingular and ATTWS and the current metrics.
