Cingular Resellers and issues concerning them?
What is the deal with the resellers? DOes Cingular back them? Can just anyone be authrized to resell for Cingular?
If I buy from a reseller will that hurt the profitability of my account?
Has anyone bought from www.cellphonehookup.com ? I just tried because the Samsung D807 was free. I am a bit nervous now. Anyone have any history to share?

first you have to wait 6 months to send in the rebate. you also have to send in 6 months worth of bills
you can not change your billing plan
you cannot be late on one payment
afetr the 6 months you have 30 days to send in the orginal package reciept and UPC. so that free phone wont be free for about a year

I just bought a phone at www.cellphonehookup.com I paid $25 for 2 phones, and get a rebate as soon as I can send one bill. I can't go lower on my cell plan for 6 months, and can't cancell anything for 6 months. No extra features. Just what I have already and I am getting a free phone.

I would highly recomend to not buy it from a reseller. You put yourself at a higher risk of buying it through them. If you have a defective phone during the first 30 days you can't go back to a store to get a different one. And in the long run you will have a hard time getting help with your account through stores because we hate the online stores!

So far..the only reseller id say is any good is Radioshack, since they offer the same return policy as Cingular stores.
Other resellers may or may not offer that..and online..well..lets not even bother.
On the other hand...I run a small website and Cingy denied me an affiliate account, prolly cuz the site wasnt up to their expectations or something. but oddly im affliated with other resellers and of course VZW..since they dont seem to care about who affilates with them.

Everyone keeps talking about resellers when I think what you mean to say is authorized agent. A reseller is someone who buys minutes in bulk, at wholesale rates, and resells them under their own name, price plans and billing.
An agent is someone who sells carrier service under the carrier name and receives a commission for doing do.
As far as agents that offer deep discounts with many restrictions, they are subsidizing part of their commission to offer lower prices on the equipment. Most agents also receive a residual payment (up to 5% of your monthly bill). This is on top of the activation commission.
By not allowing you to chance plans and charging additional disconnect fees, they are insuring they will make up the cost of the...

I work for a cingular premier agent in the west. As a company we have lower churn rates than the cor stores. Higher mystery shop scores, better $ amount on features and accessories and have a better attitude in general towards customers. I understand that many agents have a bad rap thats why cingular weeded nearly all of them out in our market. I only wish that Cingular would give us more tools to help customers I feel like my balls are in a vice!
