I can see the new at&t trying to buy Rogers in Canada one day so they can provide North America plans. Then one day, there will be true global domination.

I don't doubt it. The AT&T that bought SBC as oppose to the AT&T wireless that went bancrupt are two completely different companies. The AT&T now is one of the largest next to microsoft. And we all know what microsoft is capable of.

That is correct. AT&T Wireless was declining in its revenue and it started losing customers. Since it was a stand alone wireless company with no major company backing it, the CEO decided that they had to sell themselves to a competitor.
