I actually read in the old AT&T Wireless forum that a while back AT&T WS announced to wallstreet that it was "shrinking customer base as a positve developement as it was loosing mostly unprofitable subscribers." Which sounds familiar, but the person that posted this made some really good points. He also says "attws has clearly declared it will not make loose leader offers to increase its customer base. attws is the most sucessfull carrier in the US not by the number of subscribers it has but because it is profitable." It makes sense to me. Everyone here is sitting here making arguments that have to do with numbers of subscribers. But, what's better?: Making some money from the "unprofitables" and then making good money from "profitables" or ...

I always thought this new policy had something to do with ATT and their old management. We have inherited certain things from the former ATT (ahem! My Time?) This is just another one of those things.

Not surprising because a lot of ATTWS execs stayed on board for the new Cingular. My RAE is former ATTWS and that's what he told me.

Yeah..well it happens, they've got to make their money. The only thing is that there was also a time that AT&T was letting people just leave for free. So, to me, it seems like AT&T wasn't so harsh about things
