Hi, Im new here and this is my first thread even though I have viewed this forum for quite some time.
I do work for Cingular and I am at work right now actually. I have not been here just 1 1/2 hours and I am just so aggravated and fed up with some customers that are just complete jerks. I think everyone that works for Cingular might have had this before. I have had 2 seperate customers in here this morning that have had phone issues. Here they go:
1) Customer had a Nokia 6102 and said the keys dont work on them. I checked it out and they didnt work. Reason they did not work was because the phone clearly had liquid damage to the phone. Explained to customer and he started bi***ing b/c the only liquid it is around is when it is...

...
Understand all of the above, BUT...what if Cingular doesn't offer insurance for your phone. What is the alternative?
...
that is a good question. note on one thing......insurance is run by a seperate company called lockline so they decide. if you have a really expensive phone sometimes they dont offer insurance. then you pretty much have to take care of your phone. not drop it in water or drop it on concrete. i know, it is a sucky situation....but before i get a new phone, i see if they offer insurance on it.
...
There are other companies that offer insurance on your phone. You don't have to do it through Cingular.
...
Can anyone explain to me why Cingular does not insure devices over $400? It's not a lock/line policy, because there are other carriers that will insure a treo for example
...
If you get your phone at Radioshack..they also have their own prtection plan that they literally sell you.
One of them told me they arn't authorized to sell the lockline so he offers the Radio Shack Service Plan. It protects the phone similarly but I can also get a free battery for every year that the phone is covered..and it lasts up to 3 years.
Sure you pay for the plan up front..but it helps.
...
most people in this area of ky just want a phone that works and lockline covers all the phones that these people want luckily
...
Oh well I can dig that. I on the other hand have a SE w810 and Nokia 6682. So my phones do more than just "work" lol
...
i agree i gotta have more than jsut service, workin at cingy has made me want the newest phones out
...
I already got my eye on the SE k790a, then my w810 will be for sale.
...
haha oh yea very sweet phone imo
...
if is doesn't get posted, here is where I insure my BlackBerry 8700c
www.safeware.com
I make nothing iff this site, it just where I insure mine at..
I am Cingular Employee too
...
Cingular doesn't offer the insurance on some phones, but if you call Lockline directly they will insure ALL phones. I've even called Lockline directly for some customers that bought a pda and they pay the insurance seperate of their cell bill.
...
Do I have to say this? BE CAREFUL.
Not trying to be a dick or anything, but if I total my car, and I don't have insurance, I don't expect to go to my Nissan dealership and demand a new car.
'But I've been paying on this car for 5 years now! How come I don't get a new car for free?'
That doesn't sound right in that context, but it gets the point across. There's only so much we can do for customers, but then they think we actually have to bend over for them.
Of course, they other side of the spectrum is they educate the customer first, so this shouldn't be an issue in the future.
...
Seriously you should learn to enjoy these kinds of customers. It is so funny to always have a good answer to their silly objections. These kinds of customers make my day!
...
then as they are leaving make sure you give them a big smile and say have a great day sir. come back and see us if you need anything else
...
Then post the story on phone scoop.
...
i love saying have a great day when their pissed they usually end up saying:
Not now i cant!
F*** cingy!
Whatever
or just mumble something underneath their breath
cracks me up
...
hahahahahaha i feel the same way! last person i said that to told "i cant have a good day now, you ruined it!"..........this was b/c she wanted to return her phone after 8 months.
...
lol, I had a guy come in with a broken holster for his treo. He wanted to return it. He had the holster for a year. What are people thinking?
...
i had a customer that wanted to return a cingy phone after 3 months i told him no cant do it. also explained what would happen if he disconnected service.\
customer: response was i never knew that/im a lawyer they cant charge that at all i know.
me:sir you signed this contract you will have to pay it
customer: no one reads those things they are a waste of time.
me: your a lawyer that doesnt want read contracts???? can i have your card sir
he got really really pissed after that
he asked to speak to the manager and my response was
I am the manager
...
Haha, it works everytime. I love doing that, what are they going to say? "I got pissed at the guy and screamed and yelled, and when I was walking out he smiled and said have a great day!"
It is so great because you are just retalliating(sp?) with kindness when they are going irate and being complete Jerks, you can be sarcastic and nice all at the same time.
...
well i see it as an opportunity . i tell them no problem tell you what ten bucks more a month (if they have family plan) and ill get you another phone at the discounted prices we will have your phone working by the time you walk out. then add line to family plan get them discounted phone and everyones happy if they as about the new number just tell them its your back up number if you ever have to change your number 😈 i love desperate customers that need help
...
well if the customers were on a single plan, then it would be 30 dollars higher a month to switch to the family plan (considering they were on the 39.99 single line which they were). and they werent desperate.....they were just jerks from the beginning and u couldnt please either until they got a free phone w/ no contract.
...
Customers shouldnt sign a contract if they dont plan on getting insurance or at least buying a holder to go along with that expensive new phone.
Im sure both situations of the phone being damaged could of been avoided if the customers bought a holder.
...
thats y i cant deal with ****wipes all day, just remember its only a minority, dealing w/ any type of customer in any market pple will have to deal with that, im glad i dont work for any cell phone company, i have a short temper and an attitude if sumone ticks me off, lol
...
Water proof phones. They make water proof cameras why don't they make water proof phones? granted if they did they would probably cost 100 or so more than your average phone, which would cover the cost of your insurance any way! 3.99/m+50.
As far as cheap phones go, why bother covering them? a hundred dollar outright phone like nokias 6010-6061s aren't even worth insuring!
...
Just keep smiling that will pi$$ them off even more!!!
