Looking to leave T-Mobile...Need Input about the Competitor Carriers

After staying for 4 long years with T-Mobile, I am finally willing to move to another carrier. As for the reasons why, please see my posting on this forum with the Subject Title, "Issues with T-Mobile PDA Support Group. Especially with the Blackberry 7105T!!!". (P.S. - it's in the T-Mobile forum on this website.)

Now I know that most of you here will come back to me saying that, "it's a matter of what works for me best, go with them." Granted! So I've gone ahead and listed out some criterion that I am looking to measure against in my choice for next cell carrier. It just may turn that I may have to go back around the block once more because I've been with practically all the major carriers out there except VZW but I really do not intend t...

After the doldrums that I was going through that you all must have read about in my earlier posting above, it pleases me enough to say that T-Mobile's Corporate Rep for the Consulting firm that I work for has saved the day. As a result of my interaction with her recently through both phone and e-mail discussions, I will be receiving a RIMM BB 8700g pretty soon. This is being shipped as I have been told via UPS Ground and so I'll be expecting to get this shipment in the next couple of days here in Tallahasse, FL. (P.S. - The phone (I believe) is being shipped from the Forest Park, GA or La Grange, GA warehouses so it should take not more than 2-3 business days to get here.)

I promise I will let you all know how the phone is once I get it a...

the zip code 75077 has excellent coverage everywhere within 200-300 miles north, south, east, and west. and the zip code 32301 has a large footprint of coverage for a remote area. both area's are flooded with 4-5 bar service. and on cingular's network where there is voice there is data. so you blackberry will work there too. 😁

i believe cingular has a solid line of devices if your looking to stay in the pda range i'd recommend the 8700 or 7130 if emailing is 1st priority. a standout all around device is the 8125 for a windows mobile device it goes toe to toe with any pda i've ever experienced.
yes we have razzle dazzle phones like the nokia 6682, of d807. from the info you have given it seems thats not what your looking for. 😁

I agree...I even checked coverage for Sprint and Verizon. But if you're looking to stay with GSM, Cingy's got some kick butt coverage down there.

And since the techs tell me every tower supports both voice and data, you're all set.

FYI-Verizon has a pocket of "Digital" coverage, but no details has to if its 1x or EVDO. On all digital devices and EVDO phones, if theres no EVDO coverage, ur prolly not gonna get any data.

Sprint has some coverage down there that is all PCS and EVDO. Just in case you end up looking at CDMA Carriers. It does look like your best bet is Cingular, followed by Srpint.

T-Mo shows 3-4 bar coverage there, and again their map doesn't display if data is supported, and I don't speak with their techs.

VZW has limited international rates...the only real good international that VZW has is their North America plans.

VZW does not offer discounted international roaming otherwise, and in many cases you will either have to buy a CDMA/GSM phone or do the Rent-a-phone.

(Those combined phones are still quite expensive. Plus VZW can only offer voice service in other countries.)
