VIDEO CONFERENCING!!!

I believe if cingular pushes to launch video conferencing and better quality phones that offer this service their on UMTS/HSPA this would attract more customers so their net additions wouldn't always fall short of verizon.

I think they should focus on other things such as improving their network, their image and their prepaid products. After that, then it would be a good idea to get into other data services and applications.

I agree with you nextel. Video conferencing would be such a small target group. There are so many more areas like improving customer care and network quality that would help cingular out much more. One of the main reasons people cancel service isn't becuase lack of features but because of very poor customer service.

I think it would be a small target market like you think it would be but more importantly is how much it costs and how much spectrum would it use. Those are the 2 factors in every decision the CTO and the CFO have to decide with choosing technology. (obviously other TO’s too) There are also others such as a good eco-system, seamlessness, and demand.

As you and I both mention Cingular has a lot of other work to do before they even think of doing video conferencing. I think they should focus on their customer care, network, their network integration, building out HSDPA/HSUPA and applications associated with that, and improving on their prepaid and other products. After they do that, perhaps it will be a good idea to get into video conferen...
