Need help in deciding on Treo 650

I am thinking about purchasing the Treo 650 from Palm. I am debating whether I should buy it now with GSM/GPRS/EDGE or wait until they come out with a model that is compatible for Cingular's 3G network....I live in Houston, which has rolled out 3G already....

Also, any difference between an unlcocked Treo 650 on ebay and one that is locked to Cingular? If I buy the unlocked version, I assume it will still run on Cingular's network without any bugs or problems....

Any advice is greatly appreciated....

Thanks,

Don't. Wait for about a month or so and get the Lennon or the Nitro.

They'll be worth the wait.

Not only that but the Treo is a horrible device.

Definitely wait on the new UMTS versions. The Treo is actually still the number one PDA device for functionality and compatibility, but the UMTS data speeds will make you drool.

I was given a new unlocked 650 a month ago when my Nokia 6230 (best phone I ever had) died and it's been a nightmare. Great in theory having the familiar palm OS, but functionality is lacking. Bad RF, buggy/crashes (fixed somewhat with firmware update) but no push email and spotty sound quality especially for people on the other end. I agree, wait for new versions or look into another solution. I'm hesitant to even think about another Treo. Would rather have a symbian device with wifi.
