Disconcerning Letter

I received a letter from Cingular today stating that they had identified a billing issue that has allowed my wireless device to send text msgs or use the data without being charged. How lovely. Has anyone else received this letter or is aware this letter is being sent out?

Yes, there was a billing system error, like the letter stated, that allowed some people to text message, use the internet, and picture message and never charged them. They are processing a sweep to correct issue, it was, from what I was told, a back end glitch that caused it, and they are pro-actively alerting affected customers of this.

Well aren't those people that got away with it quite lucky. And according to the letter, they are giving them until Sept. 15th to get a package. I on the other hand HAVE been paying 19.99 a month for about 4 years for my media package, so why in the hell did I get the letter???

Sadly, we just started receiving calls about htis today and you are going to have to switch your package to one of the new ones. I'm not sure why, but you will. For anyone reading this who receives this letter and calls in, please don't yell at the rep. We think it is just as stupid as you do and have been pretty much kept in the dark as to what we are even supposed to do with people who are your particular situation. I apologize in advance for how stupid this company can be. 😢

Wonderful! Please make sure that you pass that attitude onto the customer.

Sometimes I wonder wtf is wrong with CSRs; or where they get / hire them from. Last time I spoke to a CSRs he told me that my phone was crap (this came out of the blue) How did we go from adding Cingular World Connect to my phone being a POS? I don't know; but he really p!$$@d me off... 🙄

Well, I don't pass that on to the customers that I am speaking with. I am just expressing my true feelings here about this particular campaign. The whole thing only affects certain customers, some of whom have plans already on their accounts. We have only been instructed to get them onto another plan and that's it. We haven;t even been trained on how to change the feature correctly. So I;m sorry if I'm just a little peeved at the lack of communication between Cingular and its reps.

I just got this stupid letter and I have a package already but the rep said I also have a pay per time package too. Is there anyway you could take a look at my account and help me understand what the heck they are talking about. I am fed up with people who do not want to help me.

Has anyone at Cingular CS worked there longer than 30 days??? No one seems to have heard of the package that I have, the old Media Works which is 19.99 for 1500 texts, 200 MMS and unlimited data. Sheesh

i doubt there going to take it from you, there have been cases in my area people on pay per use features were not getting charged when txting, or browsing the net, my friend has the old media 19.99 package with unlimited net and he didnt get the letter

I understand. I actually have that package on 2 lines on my account but only received a letter affecting my number. What perturbs me is the seemingly wide spread lack of knowledge that CS reps have whenever I call about something. Its quite frustrating.

If Cingular just offered unlimited txt messaging they probably wouldnt have this problem 🤣 I have a billing issue now where there tracking my txt messages from the 21st of every month and my billing cycle starts over on every 3rd of the month. Corp is looking into it so, no boubt they have some serious billing issues.

You got the letter, b/c according to Cingulars billing system your account is affected. People with pay per use arent the only ones affected, people with packages are as well, just means that if you had gone over the text messaging included with your plan, you wouldnt/shouldnt have been charged for it. They arent taking away your package (at least not if you talk to rep with half a brain) they should just let you know that if you do go over your package, you will be charged, where in the past, you may have gotten away with it. 🙂

I've never gone over my limits. But I might be better off going into my local Cingular store and make sure everything is ok with my account.

If you had, you more than likely wouldnt have been charged, they are just letting you know that in the future, if you go over you'll be charged, most store reps (that i have spoken to) have no idea what those letters are for and will inform you to call customer service.....

Just got off the phone with CS and he mentioned a package for 14.99 that has unlimited internet and 200 msgs. Is this a new plan?

Its a new plan, but its not 14.99, the unlimited wix plan with 200 messages is the "Media Max 200", and its 19.99, the 14.99 package is the media works package, it includes 1000 messages (picture and text) and 5 MB of wix, but the promo is its unlimited wix/messaging for first 30 days.
