Some Help, Please.......
I need some help and advice.
I live in Gainesville, fl.,area code 352 and zipcode 32614.
If the University of Florida were ground zero(center point)who is the best carrier, coverage wise for a 20 mile radius? Though we have all six or seven carriers, some have "giant holes".
I know I'm asking a lot, but most of the people on here are also cell reps. who have certain maps which the general public is not allowed to see. Verizon dies east of Waldo rd. and heading towards Williston.
I'm not interested in either Nextel or Alltel.
Thank you in advance.
While I'm here, has Moto V600 gotten any better?
AT&T seems to ha...

(I now have a LG VX-6000, but does not have analog, 2 miles east of Waldo rd. on NE 39th Ave, no signal)
Thinking of paying the ETF, to go with GSM.
By the way though you work for Verizon and the areas you do cover the phone is great!
As I head south of Williston either no signal or barely extended network, calls drop out there to often, but then again, so do Alltel, Verizon, and Attws(TDMA)
Thank you again for helping so quickly! 😁

A fellow Gainesville resident? Yeah...you're going to have some trouble without analog support up there. I found out the hard way with my trusty (but analog free) Sanyo 4700 (Sprint!).
I normaly don't like recomending SprintPCS due to they have a rep for offering poor customer service, but if your primary consern is Coverage. they or AT&T looks like the way to go going by claimed coverage.
As for Williston, they look like a big ol' no man's land for us for about 20 miles south of it. It says its all extended with our all our contracts in Alltel. So if your having problems with extended coverage there, that maybe why.
I'm heading home now. Night!

I've heard good and bad things about Moto V600. Is this phone worth getting though some carriers are phasing it out?
Has anyone heard of any phones that may be released in August or Sept?
I was just on c/net checking carriers for advice on cell service(mostly along the whole eastern seaboard) Sprint wasn't even listed, and T-Mobile really got trashed.
Though at the moment I'm a Vrz. customer I'm doing my research on Cingular. I have found though they may have some of the better phones in the bussiness, their coverage along the eastern seaboard(GSM) is still hurting even with their merge w/Attws doesn't seem to help their cause much.
I keep hearing about them...

As I said before they should come out with a GSM/TDMA/ANALOG camera phone, then I would have the best of the whole world.
I have thought of getting a satelite phone for emergencies and a "trac-phone" for normal day stuff.
I gave up my landline 8 years ago.
Does anyone know if satelite phones work indoors? I know they were designed mostly for remote outside use. But if you are ever stuck in no man's land, and you have no signal, and nobody around for miles, your expensive cell phone is useless.
Satelite phones are the future, the near future.
They'll have t...

Will Cingular ever come out with a new, quality GSM/TDMA camera phone? We all know TDMA is probably better coverage then GSM at this time. blockquote>
no. TDMA is being ramped down and will most likely be phased out (turned off) within the next few years. Analog is going away within the next 6 months or so if all goes as planned. With the buyout of ATTW, our GSM network will be as large if not larger than Verizon's network, (and we don't charge roaming 😉 ).
GAIT phones were a temporary solution during the changeover from TDMA to GSM. i think there is only one manufacturer that is still even MAKING GAIT phones, and that is SE, and that phone is BAAAAAD
Have not used Cingular on the East Coast yet but hee in the Southwest I have no complaints. I will be driving to Branson MO soon and will document the signal on I40 all the way, through Amarillo adn Oklahoma City. I had a TDMA phone on ATT and made this trip a few times. It will be ntersting to see the difference.

Take a good look at the T637 rather than the V600. Better all around and lots of transfer flexibility between IR and BT. I went form V600 to the Sony and never looked back.

As far as the coverage goes....got me, all I've got to go on is the regular maps. Maybe some of the Cingular reps can help ya out with their map tool. If nothing else you can hop into one of their stores and get them to use it for ya.
