Why??????? My son has t-mobile and get 1-0 bars in the house. I have had cingular wireless and they are using the 1900mhz band in my area. Part of the New Cingular Wireless PCS towers they are deploying. But anyways I had terrible service with cingular and when I had 1 bar on my sony ericsson z520a I could not even make a four minute phone call without it dropping. So I called cinglar the other day and I got my sony ericsson z520a unlocked. I pop in my son's tmobile sim card got 1 bar and made a call I was on the phone for fourty five minutes until I hung up the phone. Now tell me Why does they phone have crappy call quality using the 1900 band from cingular, but have great call quality when I use tmobile's service. And tmobile uses the 1900...

😳

Perhaps your phone was using the 850 Mhz spectrum? Possibly you were picking up a Cingular roaming partner instead of a Cingular tower? Maybe there's less interference between the T-mo tower and your house than the Cingular tower had?

When I rule the world I'll be sure and tell you exactly why you had this problem. Until then I'm as clueless as you are.

I live in the exact same place as I have always lived. I am located in Atlanta and am positive about using the 1900mhz band. I have also checked Cingular Maps to see is I was roaming on a partner and I was not So..........

Unless they have changed in the few years I have been away from corporate. The only part of the old BellSouth market that ran 1900 was the Knoxville/NC DCS - everything else was 850.

They are deploying what is called "New Cingular Wireless PCS" towers all over atlanta. That was one of the ways I got out of my contact in april was telling them about the 1900mhz band and how short of a range span that it had. So they said that since I was to far away to have decent coverage or that something was interfearing with the signal in my house that they would not charge me the ETF for all of my phones.

Go to this website if you dont believe me about the PCS towers

Hey lookie, I drive past corporate every day on the way to work. Who'd have thunk it was only 5 minutes from my new apt.

I still have no idea what the bung is up with your issue though, other than there may be a T-mo tower closer than the Cingy one.

Yea I'm in western North Carolina and for some reason we are one of the few markets that use 1900. the problem with that is 1900 is poor for penetrating roofs and buildings, and since I don't live in a tent it is a pain in the ass using the phone indoors in some areas. ATL should not be on 1900 though

The cingular person that I talked to the other day said that they were doing that in most of the major cities, because they are cheaper to maintain . Should one break down they are cheaper to fix that an tower using the 850 band. But when I went out of ATL I got perfect signal everywhere and never had a problem with them, but I am in my house more than I go outside of ATL. That was why I switched to Verizon. I checked to see what band I was using and when I found out they were using the 850 band I got on board with them. Plus I like the fast that in case I should move or something I know that they will not terminate me for excessive roaming like the other carriers do. I though about tryin sprint again. Because I used to have MetroPCS and the...

No I called yesterday to pay the remaining balances on my old account. And while we were waiting for my debit card to make sure that money was in my bank account I asked him a few things to pass the time
