a customer called me today and she wants to know if theres some sort of way to set up an anntenna so she can get cingular..ive heard this is possible..i even found the 800 number for it once.. (unless that was a vivid dream) isnt it possible to have a tower to give you cingular in your area even if there are no towers in sight? (price is not a problem she said but she doesnt have the land for a real tower right now) thanks for posting in advance!

I believe they are called COWS. Portable cellular tower systems. Usually deployed in areas where sudden (but not constant) usage is needed, like a sporting event.

It is doubtful she would have a COW deployed to her area regardless of her finacial abilities (we are talking six figures).

Unfortunately there is not.. like Tex said - COWS (Cellular On Wheels) and COLTS (Cellular On Light Trucks) are used to increase capacity on a temporary basis in emergency situations or large events.
There is a lot of back-end work needed to integrate one onto the network. You don't just plug it in and away you go..
Regardless of how deep this customers pockets are, it's not going to happen, with any carrier. Thats just not their intended use.

They may want to look into an enhancer or repeater. Just Google it. However, these can cause huge interference with other carriers and radio's.

Yes Jon the acronym stands for Cingular on Wheels. I am very familiar with these, as Cingular put one of these up in Bowie to fix my service issues I was having at my store.

80% capacity of a "normal" tower. The mofo works great! It took me threatening to close the store to get one of these toers on-line. More more issues with service.

That last sentence should read no more issues with service.
