I just upgraded on the text messaging for 400 a month. They claim the text, picture, and video are all the same now. But when I got my first bill. They charged me for data costs. Have anybody else noticed this? Also why is it when I send a picture multimedia message my earth icon (which I call it) shows up until the message is sent? Thanks for any help... Never had this problem before till the upgrade...

Well the earth icon means you are transmitting or receiving data. Thats probably where the data charges occured. I have no clue if this beloved company is gonna start charging for picture messages (charging for the amount of data it uses to send picture messages)

the media package you have only covers 1 mb, if you go over that then it charges you 1 cent a kb, and you still have to pay the premium for what ever you download.

Yeah, but the Media Basic plan (I'm assuming that's what he has) has 400 messages (of ANY kind, MMS and SMS are the saem thing now). If you happen to be using MediaNet (even accidentally because they put the damn button in the way on almost every phone) over 1MB, then you get charged overages. If this is not the case, call cust care and have it fixed.

Right that is the one I just updated too.. But like I said I didn't use no internet and before I could send picture messages and had never been charged for data charges. So they should say picture, video will accure data charges or something in the fine print.. which I can't seem to find and I thought I would ask the board to see if anybody else notice this??? Thanks for the help..

picture messages dont accure data. atleast not data you will be charged for.

they only way you should have gotten charged is if you are browsing the web with no media package or outside of your media allowance.

I called customer service today and they really couldn't help me. Just knocked my bill for the data charges in half. But could not tell me if data charges do apply or not.. Anybody else notice yet?? They also took one of the packages that my son had claiming they don't do it anymore. No letter no nothing. Just saw an extra 29 dollars on the bill since he went over which he didn't know about. He was one of the lucky ones that got unlimited text and Internet for 14.99
not anymore. Only because cingular was losing money.
