Selling PTT phones.

One thing I have noticed (a lot) about our PTT phones is that customers are buying them because they 'like them'. They like their design, size, etc. But a lot of them are not activating the PTT service. I wonder what Cingular has planned to do about this...

I think that a lot of reps are not pushing the advantage of PTT. They are not use to the service and don't know why it can save people mintues/money

These are things I always push when selling PTT, and usually, it works and a customer will try it for a month:

PTT is instantaneous. You don't have to wait for someone to maybe answer their phone. I like to tell wives, "your husband has to listen to you no matter what."

You can talk to multiple people on PTT. You can connect to all of your family members at once (hubby, son, daughter, mom) to tell them when the bbq is instead of calling them one by one.

If you are talking to someone on PTT and you are getting sick of pressing the button, switch it to a regular wireless conversation.

At my store, we simply wont sell the customers the PTT capable phones if they dont activate PTT. We've had mixed success with this strategy. But we can only have a limited number of PTT phones on our shelves, so we hold them for those customers who may in fact wish to activate PTT service.

Well, you're right. If someone wants a basic camera/bluetooth phone, we have three options w/ PTT and two without PTT (unless you want the more expensive ones). I personally haven't sold anyone the PTT feature, but I seel the Sam D407 frequently. Makes no difference on my end.

I think there are ways to get people on the service.....

1. Allow customers to select a plan that has either m2m or ptt unlimited... The same thing we offer on business plans...

2. Go back to offering the rebates on those phones only if they sign up for the PTT service...
