Warranty Exchange

nyyankees

I bought my current black V3 in December of 2005. I plan on doing a warranty exchange on it in November. By that time, if the v3 is discontinued, would they provide me with a v3i? What if the black V3 is discontinued, will the simply give me another color of the v3, or will they most likely send me the V3i?

Are there any plans to discontinue the V3 anytime soon?

Actually, I think the v3 will be discontinued sometime in October. I got word from marketing that we are getting ready to send offers to TDMA customers in the mail (yep! once again) I really don't know if it will be $49.99 after $100 MIR -like the offers sent in Jun and July- or free after $100 MIR. But we are getting ready to reach out these customers once again to get them on GSM equipment. Apparently this will be a more aggressive campaign... It might say something like "This is your last chance" or something like that to really get their attention.

They were probably on TDMA GAIT instead of GSM GAIT.

if they run out of the v3, they still wouldn't give you the v3i because the v3i is not a like for like exchange with the v3 because of the iTunes feature

you would have to expect something like the Samsung D807

i have seen slvr l7s sent as replacements for the razr. im pretty sure when the v3 is discontinued they will either keep them in stock at the xbm warehouse or they will have have the razrs after spawn ready to go. just like they did with the v551 and 557.

all of the V3's on my family plan have dust inside the screen. I already exchanged 1 over the summer. I plan to do the other ones when I get home for thanksgiving.

I'm surprised thats considered a warranty issue Verizon doesn't warranty out phones for dust in screen.

That's because Verizon actually have Techs at their store. Difference in philosophy here.

We don't have techs in the store. But there are some smart people that work in some of the stores that know how to remove the screen and clean the dust. I personally think that it's a bogus reason to exchange a phone, because it's gotten dust inside.

Just because the phone has been (or will be) discontinued does not mean that they won't have any RAZRs in stock. We all know that when you do an XBM, the phones that are sent as replacement models are refurbished phones in about 95% of all situations. Just because the phone won't be offered in store or online anymore does not mean that the XBM warehouse will be out of stock as well.

As for seeing the phone replaced with an L7, these are rare occasions. There is a better chance that you will be given something comparable in size, features, and, most importantly, price. I would see a customer getting a D807 by Samsung as a replacement. XBM will not "downgrade" a customer's phone, so you won't get stuck with something like a 557 by Moto.

The reason why I will do it in November is because I am currently at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I don't want them to send me the replacement phone at my apartment, and have somebody walk out with it because the delivery guy left it at my doorstep. And yes, I know that the replacement phone does not extend the warranty. The reason I am doing it in November is because I wont get home till then. The dust thing should be a warranty issue. I have seen some razrs where the dust is so bad that the phone is useless in sunlight. My thinking(it may be wrong because of the fact that the phones they give are refurbished) if I get a replacement phone, that phone will most likely outlive my current one right because it is newer.

I...

you really need a leather case dude I usually dont like 'em but the ones for the razr are awesome they are sleek and form fitting- they give the phone a little bit of a buffer from drops and keep the keypad of the razr from getting disgusting

most importantly for you they help protect the phone from dust build up

The squeeky wheel gets greased. I have a friend who warrantied a V557 three times and got a RAZR. He then warrantied the RAZR twice and got a ZX10. The ZX10 had sound issues just like the refurb razrs and he recently got a Nokia 9300!!! Friendly but persistent apparently pays off.
