Asking for phones, Cingular will never get.
I always get, at least, one customer on a daily basis who asks "Why doesnt Cingular have this phone or why dont you guys all carry the same phones?" and after awhile it gets kinda tiring hearing it so much. So I would like to ask my fellow reps what do you do when a customer asks about a European or another carrier branded phone which is not offered by Cingular? 🤨

Ya that phones garbage. Europeans don't know how to use phones so they dumb them down for them. You should get the LG 1500 or the Moto V180! These devices are top notch! 😉

I just tell them that a lot of the phones that we don't carry aren't fully supported by our network especially the 3g phones. You can also tell them that they are welcome to purchase the unlocked european models and use them with us but some of the features may not work correctly. The other thing you can tell them is that a lot of the carriers pay for exclusivity on the phones so that they can have them for several months before we can buy them.

😲 Someone else does it the same thing as me. Your right we do get paid for the service not the phone. I just wish ppl would realize we dont carry the LG KG800, its CDMA ppl. The gsm version is overseas. Probably will never be a Cingular branded phone and for the record my SE k750i kills the chocolate.

Hey, the LG KG800 is not CDMA! It is GSM 900/1800/1900. Cingular won't carry it cause it is not 850. You could still buy it unlocked and stick your sim card in it-

See, Cingular doesn't go out and get phones. The phone manufacturers present them to Cingular and then Cingular either says yes or no. Blame the phone makers, not the service provider.

Because it's up to the manufactor to decide where to distribute the phone based on carrier's demand and where it's made.
Why is it only for Cingular? or Verizon?
Because they signed a deal with the manufactor, exclusivity is very important for a competitive market.
Bottom line, it's to make money on either side.
