People never seem to understand that there is a reason that ATTWS isn't around anymore.

Texas is 100% correct none of the top carriers are gonna give away those services.

I think the change could have a positive impact on commission checks though.

Awesome!!! I hope that some of the ideals that AT&T had will be coming back. I had AT&T for years before they became Cingy. Since then, I have to say that I haven't been very impressed. Especially since Cingy likes to nickle-and-dime their customers to death. I miss the days of free incoming messages, early nights for customers who spend over $60 monthly & better rate plans. My contract is up in March..... If things don't get better, I will not be renewing. If things get any worse, I will take all 3 of my lines to another carrier... Lets hope that things take a turn for the better!!! Cuz if they do get better, I would be more than happy to agree to another 2 years! 😁

Go ahead and look now, because going back to the ideals of ATTWS is not going to happen. What you just basically asked for is for them to give away services for which they charge now. You won't find those things on any other national carrier anyways.

Bottom line, ATTWS gave those services away to retain their base and drive up their potential purchase price. It was not profitable and stifled network investment.

ATTWS is gone. What "will be coming back" already has in the sense that some of the efficiencies and profitable marketing ideas have already been integrated.

i agree with you texas its the same company different name. Same CEO,CFO AND COO so money is the issue.
look at the upgrade policy its all about money, when i use to work for attws on the 3rd party and corp level it was great they new how to take care of a customer ever since they "mirged" things change. i don't think they will go back to the old ways

ATT died. A horrible, messy, nasty death. The only thing that survived was the name on the door. If you don't like the way SBC/Cingy does things now, you'd better look elsewhere, because they aren't changing anything but the name. At least that's how it worked around here when SBC put ATT's name on their door.

?????

I don't agree that since Cingular bought ATTWS they forgot how to help the customer. I believe we have significant tools to easily satisfy most customers needs each and every time.

Yea me too... people equate a "happy customer" with giving stuff away. That's not how it works, and will never work again.

My VZW 2 year contract just expired last week and I'm leaving them because I want a Sony Ericsson phone which Verizon Wireless doesn't offer. Will service plans and phone selections improve next year when AT&T takes over? If so, I'd just wait. What do you think?

It won't matter if you do it now or after the name change. After all, that's all it is. Rate plans will remain the same, Rollover won't go anywhere, maybe more minutes or earlier night and weekends?
Let's say you switch now, then if after at&t takes over the plans change, you will always be able to change your rate plan with no problem....

Nothing is really going to change. Are they where they want to be? Absolutely not!EVERYTHING is trending strong in the right direction so current management is not going to be changed when they are doing such a good job now.

Won't matter why change something if its going so well? cingular's profit and churn is at good point no reason to do anything different.
Remember this is all about money and who can be bigger in the Wireless game

Cingular is only going to change in name! it's ganna be the same service, same towers, same plans. For those who still have the old at&t are ganna be in the same boat as before, you can still switch over to the "new att", it doesn't mean that your old att is going to improve, it will remain the same and will always remain the same until you switch

I wonder what we'll have to start calling the plans now? "Former ATT Wireless account" v "New ATT account"? I don't believe Cingular will be picking up the "wireless" portion of the old ATT wireless name.

So, help me understand something here. I've still got the old ATT plan. Cingular says that the only way for me to get a new phone, is to switch to one of their cing plans, which all suck. They say that they track things by the sim card (att or cing).

So... If they go back to AT+T, does that mean that they will be using AT+T sim cards again and I can get a new phone from them without switching plans?

Thanks!

the cards will say at&t but will not be the same sim as what you currently have. in order for you to upgrade to a new phone you would still have to change your plan. they are currently referred to as blue or orange sims and will continue to be referred to as such from Q1 2007 through Q4 2007 even with the name change.

again as my name implies, they're switching in name only, they're not going to go back to the old att sim card/phones/plans or anything. you still have the older att simcard, you still need to switch to a new simcard (cingular or later named att gsm card) whatever the case of the name, you still need to switch over sim cards.
