V600 and Cingular

I currently own a T610 from T-Mobile and I can't even see the network from my apartment.
I am looking to purchase a V600 from Cingular.
I've heard they have discontinued selling the phone through Cingular.
Can anybody give me the real scoop on why?
What is the deal with the Moto V600 and Cingular?
I've read in these forums that there was an issue with Bluetooth hackability and something about poor reception.
Can anybody tell me exactly what the issue is?
Thanks

Don't worry about bluetooth hackabillity if you don't work for a major corporation, I doubt you'd be a target

What market are you in?

Don't worry about the V600, it was discontinued because it would'nt hold a signal (too many dropped calls) just wait a bit and get the V620 which is an improved version of the V600.

the reason for it being discontinued was an RF problem with the antenna. If you want a bluetooth flip phone, wait for the v551. if a flip isnt important but bluetooth is, go with the SE T637.

The V600's reception issue was in the 850 MHz GSM band. Cingular decided to drop it rather than wait for Motorola to come out with a revised V600, due to the V620 nad V551 being right around the corner.

Damn, too late. I just bought a Cingular package with the V600. What should I do now? I thought Cingular was doing a re-call for the V600 and shipping customers a V400 while the phone was being fixed.

Yeah right! Could you imagine how much money would be spent by doing this? Cingular would go out of business by doing this!

Here is the deal on this: Cingular, upon finding out through the hotline that there is an issue, will ship out a loaner V400, along with a headset that the customer can keep for their trouble. Upon receipt of the V400, customer places the V600 in a postage paid shipper and sends it back. Cingular will notify customer when V600 replacement is coming via text message. When V600 arrives, customer returns V400, again postage paid.

Let me point out that Motorola brought this flaw to Cingular's attention, and Cingular decided not to pass the buck back to Motorola, but deal with it internally to avoid inconveniencing our customers more than necessary. If Moto had dealt with it folks would have been without a phone until repairs could be made. Pl...

Funny, isn't that exactly what the other gentlemen posted and everyone told him he was full of sh!t.

Sometimes, it just takes a phonepimp to say it in order for it to be true huh?

I dunno, all I know is that it came down through my email. I work Company Owned Retail, so maybe that's why.

Are we getting the V600 or V620? When I called regular customer service the rep said the v620. Today the 800-201-6235 number said a replacement v600.

My understanding is this: Send in the old V600, and they send a V400 until the V600 is fixed.

As for those who wait, I haven't heard anything about what replacements will be available.

I am keeping my V600 until the new one becomes available. The rep said I will get an extra charger and battery and need not send those back with the phone. She said to call in Sept to see when the new phone is available. As I said in another thread I have a BMW M3 with a blue tooth kit and want to continue using it until the replacement is available.
All in all I think Cingular is handling this very well.

Damn, I just on over the internet through Cellular Choices.
I read somewhere on this forum there was a customer care number where I could call and they would "fix" the RF problem while letting me use a V400 loaner. How true is this?
