Switching Plans - Rollover Minutes Question

rb

Oct 1, 2006, 9:37 PM
If I switch to a plan with more minutes, do I keep the accumulated rollover minutes or will it be reset to zero?

For example FT 550 to FT 700.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Your rollover minutes MAY be adjusted to no more than the amount of anytime minutes in your new plan. For example, going from 550 to 700 and you have 1000 rollover minutes, you can only keep 700 as that is how many are in your new plan. If you are going from 700 to 550 with the same 1000 rollover, you would be able to keep 550 as that is the number in the new plan. If your rollover minutes are less than the number of anytime minutes in the new plan, you can keep them all.

Why switch to a higher plan, use all of your rollover minutes then switch...

When you increase your rate plan, it has no effect on your rollover balance. If you decrease your rate plan, your rollover balance will be decreased to match the peak minutes of your new rate plan. If your rollover balance is already less than the peak minutes of your new rate plan, your balance will remain the same.

Actually going up in your rate plan will still cap your minutes at the new rate plan, but most people don't go up in minutes if they have a few thousand rollover minutes saved up.

That I did not know. But I doubt it comes up much, since as you say few would increase their rate plan if they have a pile of rollover accumulated.

The 550 FT plan I'm on allows only three lines. If I could add a 4th line to that plan I would not have to switch plans (at least for a while).
So from the info received on here, I either get to keep the accumulated RO minutes or they will be reduced to 700 if i switch to the 700FT plan.

Thanks for all your input!

Rollover is just a gimmick anyway! If cingular had better trained reps they would be able to discuss your phone usage with you and get you in a rate plan that better fits your needs. The average wireless user uses roughly the same amount of minutes every month allowing a massive amount of rollover min. to accumalte which are probably not going to ever be used anyway.
If I were you I would just switch to Verizon and get the 69.99 700 min FS plan. You will certainly get better reception, better customer service, and are phones are so much cooler than what cingular has!

You must be high on crack. How about my FS plan where I get 1100 mins for 69.99.....I guess 700 is a better deal huh?

Its an older plan. Has Verizon got a walkman phone that you can add 4GB of memory to, like the w810, with a 2mp auto focus camera? Your bluetooth phones - can you bluetooth a file from your phone to your pc, or to another phone????????? NO YOU CAN'T, NOT WITH A VERIZON PHONE. Just yesterday, my friend said he liked my ringtone I made, so I sent it right over to his phone via bluetooth. That is something YOU CANT DO WITH A VERIZON PHONE. Do I need to go on and on and on, or do you finally see you are with an inferior carrier.....

The funny thing is you cingy fan boys flaunt the whole bt thing and to be honest in all my years of working for Vzw I may have had 2 or 3 customers actually know what Bt is and what it is intented for! Most people say so it will sync with my benz or beamer yep it will great that's the ph. for me! Or so I can get one of those headsets without the wires Yes sir you can! I mean honestly your ph. selection sucks and your Customer service is always ranked at the bottom! Do I need to go on or do you finally see you are with an inferior carrier?

Yes you do need to go on and on, because you have only 2 or 3 people know what BT is simply mean VZW customers are uneducated (how else would you explain them choosing VZW in the first place!!) Cingular's native phone selection may currently not be the greatest, but you can go and get a Nokia N80, N73, 6131, E61..or how bout a SE w810 or k790a and they work fantastic on our network. VZW doesn't have phones that match those.....oh and please tell me what great phone made by SE does VZW offer??

Most of our customers don't know what BT is either, but some of them use the heck out of it for everything. If they don't have it they can never learn about it though. We've got at least one phone that doesn't support OBEX, but I don't like the idea of someone taking features out of my handset. People think Americans are dumb enough as it is.

dumb people go to verizon... that is why they need to have the same menu on every phone so "they don't have a problem when switching between phones". it doesnt take any time to learn how to use a phone... just type the numbers in and press the send key. for the rest of the phone, it takes less than ten minutes to realize how to use it.

and you're saying that verizon has better phone choices? they're all the same phone on the inside, they just look different!

They're going to appeal to the older market by having a universal UI. There is value to it. Can you count how much time you spend explaining phones to your older and more inflexible customers when their old phone breaks and you have to upgrade them?

LOL excellent point on the menu's!! Its bad enough verizon shows their tiny muscles by crippling the phones, but they try to impose more of their will by making everyone use the same menus. What a joke.

You are stupid. Very rarely do people use the same amount of minutes every single month. When we pull up a chart showing their peak usage for the year it always fluctuates. Better trained reps? Man you have some nerve lol.

lol, they may use close to the same amount every month, but what happens in case of an emergency, or if you are moving, or have 1 to 2 months where you use substantially more minutes than you normally do. Thats when rollover saves you. We have the ability to pull up a spreadsheet of everycustomers peak minute usage and it typically fluctuates every month. Don't say roll over is a gimick, because it actually has saved some people some money.

I'm not gonna post someones minutes of use, but we have this thing called a rollover matrix. When we look at it, it shows us the amount of minutes left over from each month for the past year. The minute usage almost always fluctuates.

Why?

Many reasons. Death in the family, Holidays, vactions, visiting relatives, change of employment, moving, or just basically life. I love it when my life is stable, but it isn't and can't be that way all the time.

He obviously has never had any kind of family or friends that may have had something go wrong in their lives, maybe someone going into the hospital, where many peak calls are required to check on certain things and therefore peak usage rising well above the normal usage. Thats where rollover saves your behind. Its kinda like insurance - sure you may not have to ever use those 3000 rollover minutes you've built up, but they are there should you ever need them. The difference with the insurance analogy is, with insurance, you have to pay for it.....but rollover is included in your plan. How cool is THAT!!
