Rumor has it (in howard forums) that Cingular's network integration is not complete. Can anyone clarify this. I can't keep up anymore. 😕

Funny that you bring this up. I stopped working for Cingular about a month ago, and I remember reading on My-Cingular that as of Aug 31st 2006 there were less than 10,000 Gold towers. I can't recall the exact number; but I DO know for ssssure that it was less than 10,000. Also, I remember hearing (all the time) that integration would go on until the end of 2007. Was I the only one to hear this? I know I am not hearing things 👀
Did they integrate the other 37,000 in less than two months?

All internal information states that integration has been completed in all major areas, and is set to be completed 100% by end of this year. We've been told they had originally stated that the integration was supposed to be 100% complete by end of '06 and they are ahead of schedule, should be completed by mid November. Thats the information they've been telling us at least... 🙂

Help me understand "Network Integration"...

In the major markets I travel to, I can still go into my phone's Settings, Network Selection, and manually choose either the old AT&T Network or the Cingular Network.

It seems the two networks are still operating completely independent.

Or, is "Network Integration" all internal items (billing systems, etc.)

Just wondering...

anyone really asked the question of, "What was at ATTWS to integrate?" Their GSM newtwork absolutely aweful. Your GSM service depended highly on cingy anyway, and also AWS network maps showed nothing but where major interstates ran. Your AWS phone worked well in major airports, around major interstates, and that's it. I know for sure that AWS didn't hold a candle to markets which BellSouth Mobility built out in the 90s.

Bottom line, the networks are still completely separate...
