I just noticed this phone in our MIRs forms. Has anyone seen this phone?
...
I haven't, but let's hypothesize...
It's CU, and not CG, so it's obviously UMTS. Perhaps a simplier UMTS phone for people that done need all the gagets of the 500 and perhaps can't afford the $100 price tag?
I hope not, cus if they can't afford $100 then they'll probably come in every day asking me how to check their voicemail too.
...
I actually read somewhere that the CU400 has more advanced features than the CU500...and is a different form factor.
Couldn't tell you where I found that information though. I'll keep looking...
And the phone is listed on the FCC website.
...
I've seen it and it has PTT!
A PTT UMTS Phone perhaps?
...
Correct. I just had my RAE confirm this the other day. She was conversing via PTT with someone demoing the CU400. And it is UMTS.
...
The U part of CU 400 means UMTS. All of LGs GSM phones are CG.
...
Only UMTS? No HSDPA? âšī¸
...
It's listed on the merchandise style layout as a PTT phone, but the CU designation leads me to believe it'll include UMTS also. It shouldn't be to far off though.
I gotta give it to Cingular, they're getting better at keeping phones a secret until the last minute, even from reps.

November is what i was told. I'm still trying to figure out what the Samsung BlackJack is!
...
lol it's probably a code name for the new samsung pda due out soon.
...
i thinks its the moto q's comp.
...
have you seen the new samsung? It's bad a$$.
...
I believe that's the wrong model... The model that was listed is the i607...
...
I'm not really a "suretype" kinda guy, so it's hard for me to get excited about suretype phones.... đ
...
It took me about two weeks to get used to the key placement on suretype, but I still like the full qwerty better.
...
me too but many people are saying they find it faster to type with that style keyboard đ
...
it can be faster because you can do it one handed, but that's why we've got the choices for everyone who still likes qwerty better (like us). I can type on either one pretty easily, so I wont complain.
...
i know umts is different from hsdpa and sometimes umts is used interchangibly for hsdpa, but will this phone have hsdpa or the slower umts?
...
I'm going to go with both... It would be pointless to rollout a strictly UMTS device because HSDPA is rolling out nearly the same time as UMTS.
However, I wouldn't put it past the higher ups to include on UMTS on a "lower end" device.
O.. and by the way...
The CU400 is replacing the CG225, which is about to be announced as EOL.
...
thanx for the info and someone pointed out that the "cu xxx, the u means umts, and cg xxxx the g is gsm" im glad someone caught that
...
The cu400 looks pretty basic on the FCC site. I know it will have PTT, HSDPA, and be small like a basic clamshell. I just hope they atleast put a mg camera on this thing instead of a vga.
I'm looking forward to atleast seeing what it's about! We need more 3g options. I love my cu500, but where's the next step?
...
I want to see this phone. Looked on fcc.gov and couldnt find it. Link please? đ
...
Yea it is pretty basic. It's meant to replace the CG225, and so, it's going to be a low cost 3G phone.
...
just in time because my area has just went online for 3g service and i even checked w/ cingular's personal coverage check, i will go to a cingular store and test out the CU500 to see for myself how fast HSDPA is, im excited, and im gonna test out the other 3g options like Verizon and Sprint to see if there is any speed difference, whats funny is that Sprint has larger 3g coverage in the major areas of my state(Michigan), the metro-detroit area/tri-county area is covered, Grand Rapids, Lansing(capital) than Verizon
which only covers my tri-county area and cingular has a nice amount of coverage in my area, but i hope they expand to Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Kalamazoo
*i know most people dont live in my area but im just excite...
