Question for rep's or customers about in store discounts.

I am a current Nextel/Sprint subscriber, go and laugh lol. I am leaving them for many reasons and I am pretty sold on Cingular for many reasons. I want to purchase my new 8125 from a rep at a corporate Cingular store because he knows a bout this phone and has one. I have been told that Cingular corporate stores will not do price matching in any way. I see that the 8125 is cheaper on most on line retailers and in some retail stores but I want this reps help after the purchase. I am in sales and he deserves my sale but how can I get the price down from him?

you can try to make him lower it down to about $220 if you get a $59.99 with the PDA plan,

The $250 is the discounted price in my market. For us it's $369.99, minus the data package, minus the mail in rebate which makes it $249.99

If you sign up on a data package there's a $20 instant discount. Most people get a data plan with a PDA anyway, so it doesn't really effect many people. It's just a marketing thing they're doing in a few markets.

$250 after all the rebates is definitely the lowest a Cingular store can do. The profit margin isn't extremely high on most handsets, but PDAs are usually half of what is made on "full feature phones." There isn't a whole lot of room to negotiate on the dealer end.

Well I have compared Sprint and Cingular as best as I could and Cingular is like $19 more a month. I called them up and told them this and the rep on the phone told me to e-mail him before I sign up and he will waive the act. fee and do a couple other things for me. I am more or less sold on Cingular now.

Government jobs are sweet. Maybe Cingy did that in exchange for free mail delivery?

70% off retail price, not contract price

70%-$600 (average retail price)=180 plus tax
and thats if the store honors the discount (which most won't)

or between $250-$200 contract price

You can't. The rep doesn't control the price of the phone, Cingular does. If you value the service and information he's already given you, you should buy from him.

Buy it from him, look at the extra couple of $ it will cost you as his comission for all the help he has and will give you in the future, if you go and buy it somewhere else and take it to him for help expect to get the cold shoulder.

Sometimes its worth a couple more dollars in order to get good customer service, as it appears you have.

Look at it as an investment.

That is why I will buy from him. I agree on all your points.
