Cold weather, less talk time?
My brother keeps telling me that his SLVR doesn't last as long as it used to due to the cold weather. đ He says that sometimes his phone (when outside his pocket) gets very cold and the phone will start beeping cuz it's almost dead. Is he crazy? Is the phone bad? I don't know what to tell him.

i think he is crazy!! he can try buying a new battery cause if it is over a year old or he leaves it on the charger a lot it will wear out the battery

I thought people put batteries in the freezer to keep them "fresh."

OMG! I think your brother is right. I have a friend who used to work for Budweiser (Yay! that drunk đ ) He used to complain about the battery on his cell phone dying very quickly whenever he'd go in the cooler to stock beer in convenience stores. He used to carry a car charger in the truck. Oh, he had alltel or verizon I forgot đ

It seems from the previous responses that moto is the problem. Usually heat is the largest culpret to batteries deteriorating. I have never noticed a difference with my nokia or my SE when it comes to temp. Buy a nokia or SE and be happy.

As the temperature goes down, the discharge efficiency of a Li-Ion battery will decrease, especially below 0C. Also the discharge efficiency of Li-Ion batteries decreases as the discharge current goes up and this effect is more pronounced at lower temperature. At -20C talking on the phone, the battery will appear to have about 40-60% of its effective capacity.
The old habit of putting batteries in the refrigerator is a result of a characteristic that all batteries have, the self discharge current decreases with lower temperature. Self-discharge current for the old Zinc Carbon batteries was high enough that putting in freezer would keep them at full capacity "or fresh" longer. The self-discharge current of Li-Ion is very low except at fair...
