Any updates on the at&t / BellSouth pending merger?
Does anyone know of any updates to the pending merger? I recall that the FCC was supposed to vote on approving the merger early this month, but I don't know if they postponed it again or not.

Last I heard was postponed until after the elections. No date has been given yet (to my knowledge)

It is basically at a standstill due to disagreements between the Democratic and Republican appointees on the FCC. The Democrats, quite reasonably, want the new goliath to provide not only greater broadband access to the poor and those in rural areas than at&t was willing to promise but also make assurances regarding net neutrality. With Democrats in charge of Congress now this could get interesting. I personally hate the fact that cingular, when this all is completed, will be wholly owned by at&t which has no qualms about sharing private call data of all its customers to the govt. Nothing good can come of us being controlled by Texans.
