AT&T, Bellsouth Merger

ATT Wireless

Nov 15, 2006, 9:58 PM
I hope that the merger will close soon, and that it will be a smooth transaction. I think it is in AT&T's best interest to starting rebranding right away. As much as I hate to see Cingular go away, I think AT&T Wireless will do wonders.

(How soon would Cingular start rebranding, I am guessing 2nd Quarter 2007, what do you experts think?)

It's going to be called only 'at&t', no wireless, and we'll be totally rebranded by the end of March. (as long as the FCC gets it approved by the end of the year.

As a matter of fact, the rebranding has already started on some points.

1. Walk into a corp store and count how many times you see 'cingular' or the jack logo. In my store it's less than ten.
2. Cingular Rewards is being renamed (new site is being worked up right now).

Ahhhhh, the ignorance.

NOTHING about Cingular will change except wonership. The network is going to stay the same.

Relax!

hmm, well, it was more sarcasm that actual opinion.. but since you chose to be so gracious... I would venture to guess that unless your title at Cingy ends with a EVP or SVP you my friend are probably just slightly more informed than the average CSR.. Furthermore I must take with a grain of salt anything coming from a person who said " US customers have the best cell phone rates in the world!" Perhaps if you would have spent about a minute checking you could have saved yourself the opportunity of broadcasting your own ignorance/self delusion.. 😉

We aren't going to require people to get new sims or anything like that. The only thing thats gonna change that the customer will notice is the name. Everything else will be the same.

was it sarcasim? didn't notice lol

I'm tired of people thinking they know everything just because they read an article on some random website. We're informed of things for a reason, most likely because our position merits us knowing.

You know what i'm going to do... instead of correcting all the rumors on here, i'm just gonna sit back for a while and watch everyone (ok most people) on here make an a$$ out of themselves.

Thanks Collone.. If I had actually been spouting that seriously , then your original answer would have been great.. seems informative and not condescending in the least. And just a fyi, I have never seen anything anywhere about a new sim or even looked into the possible ramifications of the renaming.. My expectations of most service providers are so low as to not be dissappointed.. 😉

Some people just like to be jerks. Keep the good info coming. I'm still using my A&T sim card as I wouldn't switch. I'm just hoping that the customer service will improve & cell tower coverage will improve. Right now I have to go outside on my deck to make & receive calls.
I've stuck with it as I have one of AT&T's fabulous plans. Too good to give up.
Any input as to how this merger will make it better for the customers.
I'm with the other guy, I've have 3 other carriers and they weren't so great either so I just keep hoping that one of these days things will get a lot better.

New towers are coming online every day. Our 'parents' merging will only free up more capital to spend on network enhancements. Sure, the name change will cost money, but like someone else said... Our parents have deep pockets, and they're paying, so let 'em. 🙂
