Okay so I saw Casino Royale, and I have one bad thing to say about it…WHY DOES THE REST OF THE WORLD GET TEN TIMES BETTER CELL PHONES! This truly blows. Why do we get the short end of the stick on cell phones? And I know what you are saying; those are probably cell phones that are fixing to come out in Europe. And yet, THEY ARE STILL BETTER REGARDLESS. I truly hate American cell phones; they are butchered and toned down, just and ungodly sight. I guess the best thing to do is to go across the pond and get an unlocked phone because these phone suck, it’s like all the phones the American carriers have are like the Zach Morris phone to the European and Asian markets, its ridiculous. WHY OH WHY DO WE HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE THIS?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but are you SURE they were real phones that are actually out on the market? It was a James Bond film ya know. Cars don't really have invisibility shields either. 😉
How was the movie? I'd like to see it.

Actually Matt, you illustrate the point of the original poster that Americans are vastly behind the rest of the world when it comes to cell phones. Of course, Bond uses a real phone.
The producers and the studio (Sony) would be crazy not to use this film as a launching pad, so they've given Bond a special edition Sony Ericsson K800i.
I continue to be amazed how all American providers like to keep their customers in the dark so they can ram overpriced plans, texting and other services they might not necessarily need down their throats.
Look at how many people on this forum and others are still confused about what GSM is, what a SIM card is and what it does. Cingular doesn't help by calling it a Smart Chip.
Plans in Europe are ch...

Yeah, I know. I was just kidding with him. I have heard that Europen phones/plans are better than what we are offered.
On a side note, The last 3 or 4 James Bond films have taken full advantage of strategic product placement. I've noticed it with the phones and the cars especially.

Thank you for that post, I have been trying to get it through some of the thick heads in the Verizon forum, when I try to educate them about a little company Vodafone, who by the way owns 45% of Verizon Wireless.

Well it was more character Driven no gadgets at all. Nice car though, it wasn't the traditional Bond film which made it less corny and more of a better film.
And the phone they had was the same phone these Norwegian businessmen had that a colleague of mine met. So no they were real, it was some SE phone.
In my opinion it was the best bond film yet, more realistic in its plot in regards to Terrorism and finances, also it had minimal CGI, and a lot of actors doing their own stunt, its an AWESOME movie, I recommend it.

Because typical Americans won't pay that much for a phone so its not worth it for the Manufacturers to spend money retooling it for America.
Those that are willing to spend the money can just get it from an importer like myworldphone.com

gracias I was wondering where to look

You can buy both of those phone unlocked online. The SE k790i even has 850 for full US use. the M600 is available too. Just go buy one if you want one.

It's just economics. A phone built for North American GSM or CDMA has a market of 300-350 Million potential customers. A non-North American GSM phone has a market of 2-3 Billion potential customers. 2100 MHz UMTS gets you about 180 Million more potential customers in Japan and S. Korea.
We Americans are spoiled because we have been the primary economic engine in so many markets. While that's still true for some markets, it's not true for cell phones.
