Cingular or Verizon?

I live in the Ny-NJ metro area (I'm 10 minutes from the lincoln tunnel) and I currently have Verizon and would like to know other people's experience with Verizon and Cingular and which carrier would you prefer?

They're both good in NY-NJ so this is going to be a tough one. Are there any other requirements you have other than being able to make phone calls in your home area? That would help me give the edge to one or the other.
