pearl set for release----why not set up service through Amazon?

bosoxsteve

Amazon is offering the Pearl for $49.99. All indications are that it will be $199.00 in stores tomorrow or Monday

Can anyone give me a solid reason not to go through Amazon?

Does anyone know if I could transfer my current verizon number after service is established for Cingi through Amazon?

Thanks in advance for the input/advice

bosoxsteve, this is a forum filled with store reps so you're gonna get a majority of objections from the people here.

Anyways, you have to be comfortable with Amazon's return policy and you'll have to either go through them or Cingular Customer Service (the 800 number) if you have any issues.

Stores exist for sales and any support done at stores are for things related to a sale done at the store.

Honestly, though---when it comes to sales I've been less than impressed w/ the store's knowledge/willingness to provide info.

Case in point---I would have expected a flurry of responses to this post saying---no---go to the store beceause of A.B. and C.

Certainly isn't worth the $150.00 to me if what it comes down to is having a live person open the box and set up my service.

They probably wont even get it to the stores for another month anyway. I've been waiting on nearly every new phone release for two weeks before they show up.

Yep, it's expected "as soon as tomorrow," but that doesn't mean they'll get it to me. I'll order the phone, and then two weeks later it still wont be in while everyone else is buying their phone online.

I can't count how many people I've had come in wanting the Blackjack, 680, or 8525, but they haven't shipped any to me. I made the order two weeks ago, and they've sent me the SIM cards, but not the phones.

They've changed our ordering person for my area and ever since then ive been getting phones in 3-14 business days instead of 1-2 days of what it used to be. I miss my old phone order submitter!!

bosoxsteve, good response. i agree with your thoughts. the only question i have is if amazon can port over the phone number from my existing service. i would assume cingular customer service would be able to do this for you.

the only downside that i see with amazon would be that you have to wait 3-4 weeks for this order to ship, but you will probably have the same issue if you go to a store or go on cigulars website. there is going to be that large demand to begin with.

takes 8 months to get a rebate back

at least with Amazon, the rebates are not as high and you don't hear the same complaints with them that you do with Wirefly

I have bought a phone from Amazon.com. I paid full retail (without a plan). It came fast and it saved me $$ since I did not have to pay tax. I like amazon I cant recall ever having a problem.
