lately i've been seeing people with the LGCU500 and the Sync and i look and try it their phones, and they are only getting edge and i live in a 3G market, are they selling the phones without activating it on the 3G network or they dont have an updated sim card?, i dont want to get cingular video if im only going to have edge coverage. i also tried out the new phones in the nearest cingular store and the 3G phones are only picking up edge., whats up w/ that?

Try to power cycle the phone, if that doesn't work check to make sure the phone is listed on the account and they have a 3G SIM card.

The account should also list the phone as UMTS not GSM, and there should be a UMTS feature somewhere in the feature list.

But they are supposed to do both right? I read that particularly the samsung seamlessly "floats" between 3g and gsm while on a call.. right?

yes the samsung is much better than the LG for calls. I personally disable the 3g network on the LG because of dropped calls.
