Hey man, I just wanted to address your feelings toward Alltel. I know that down here in my part of the state, it really is the only thing that works in the boon docks. I really dont know about where you are, but i am sorry that you are having problems with them.

I'm about 20 min. north of Greensboro, not really in the boonies so to speak, but a little out of the way. I've been told, by ALLTEL CS, that the area I live in sits inside a gap between the ranges of two towers. This causes my signal to be erratic, I experience a lot of dropped calls, and there have been times when even though my balance is paid up people who try to call me get a message that says my number has been disconnected. I understand the erratic signal and dropped calls due to the gap in the tower range, but the calls not even gettin to my v-mail is unacceptable. When I call CS to try and find a solution I get an emphatic "there's no problem with your service". Now obviously there is a problem if people think I'm disconnected,...

Ah, well i understand you know as well as i do that no company gets coverage everywhere.
...
yeah, I understand that, but what's the deal with not acknowledging that your customer has a problem that's somewhere other than the customer's end? Why is it that whenever I call CS that I'm treated like I don't know what the hell I'm talkin about? I know what it means when my family tries to call me, like they have dozens of times before and can't even access my v-mail. It doesn't mean that they're dialing wrong, or that I'm out of range, or that my phone isn't on (it's never off). I'm just tired of gettin treated like I don't matter.

I used to be an agent for alltel, along with cingular, and i finally quit selling alltel due to customer's having the same problem. it was really annoying, and fyi alltel used to promise coverage EVERYWHERE on there total freedom (really ridiculously expensive) plan. There's no way it was carried out though.
...
I'm sure they got hammered with people who expected to carry out that promise after paying the rediculously high fee. I, personally, do not have beef with there being a problem. I know that stuff happens to every carrier in every industry. My beef is that they insist that nothing is wrong and basically treat me like I'm a child. Oh and God forbid the mailman doesn't bring my payment RIGHT on the due date. The best I can do is send it out before it's due (within reason, not like the DAY before or anything). If it's not delivered by then it's not my fault, but if my bill was due on the 15th and they don't have it, my phone will ring on the 16th to find out why, only to find out that the payment is actually there, they just haven't proces...

yeah, i know what you mean. i've heard horror stories about alltel. from people upon people. it's not isolated, it's everywhere.

You know what Disturbed. I really wouldnt even get in this business if i were you. I am so fed up with upper management and slow sales do to the incompetence of the people who do my marketing. Although sales have gone threw the roof since the 19th, i still have to deal with Bullshit after Bullshit. I wish i could just stock groceries or something. I might just go back to doing construction. I miss the outdoors. While i am in College i really dont need to take the stress of a job home with me. i need to just focus on school. Sorry if this seems like a weird thread, but a light just went off in my head, and i would rather say it to you guys then my co-workers.

he's just giving an opinion, that's what forums are for...alltel does have a lot of problems, as does cingular, nextel, etc. etc. the problem with alltel though, is that they will not admit it, and try to fix it. when i was an agent for them, i cannot tell you how many times that my customer's said that c/s just told them that nothing was wrong, when my customer was plainly stating their problem. and the story with the two towers thing, alltel uses that as an excuse for everywhere you don't receive service.
...
understandable. I know first hand that job stress while in school can really sap the fun out of life quickly. While finishing school myself I was working 120 hrs a week of emergency call in the OR plus about 35 regular hours on top of writing papers and goin to class. But I had to to keep everything paid up. Compared to that a 9-5 (or 10-7 in a wireless case) job sounds as relaxing as a day on the beach to me. One of the main reasons I wanna get into this business is the fact that I like working with people and the subject matter interests me. Sadly without the experience I'm gettin nowhere fast. Plenty of folks sayin "we need help!!!" but then lookin right over my head. 😕
Sorry you're havin to go thru so much crap, but I'm sure ...
