Hi all. I'm new to the forum. I'm currently using SE 520a and hate it. My biggest complaint is the call quality. During every conversation, the voice drops out of the call for 1-3 secs every 2-6 mins. I'm always asking people to repeat what they just said. I don't lose connection though. I still have 1.5 years left on my contract. ☚ī¸ I'm hoping a new phone would help decrease or eliminate this problem. I'd prefer a slider or bar, but I'm open to clamshell. I just want a phone that will provide with clear calls. Decent camera would be nice. I live in the Twin Cities so it's not like I live out in a rural area with poor signal. I don't really need MP3 player, web browsing, or e-mail. I mean if it comes with I'll get it but it'...

sounds like you've got a problem with that z520a. that is actually one of our better entry level phones. Sony has great RF and sound quality in their products now. i would recommend you have it exchanged under warranty. if you want another phone all together. the lg cu500 is a good choice along with nokia 6102i. not much for bars out there. you have the w810, but it is also a sony. i wouldn't recommend the moto L series, lot of warranty and dropped calls issues. hope that helps a little. 🙂

Do you have a 64K SIM? All that cutting in and out sounds like your phone is trying very hard to keep a hold of the spectrum.

I checked. I have a 64K SIM card. Do I need a new/different SIM? Can one update the firmware on the phone to help with reception and decrease sounds cutting in/out?

your phone is under warranty. Do an warranty exchange. That should help. You have one of the best phones for reception. I really think that your phone is defective...

It's the network, not the phone.

I had the same problem with the z520. Most conversations were choppy, cutting in & out a lot. I have a feeling it's the network though. I have a 6131 now, and this still occurs, just not as often.

Your phone is defective. My g/f has that phone (and I have one for backup) and it gets the best reception of any phone we've had. Hell, it's been dunked in water and dropped on concrete and STILL gets great reception. You should at least try the warranty exchange before jumping to the conclusion of a new phone.
