Why would someone sign up with Cingular??

From what I am reading with the Cingular / ATTWS buyout why would someone choose cingular over attws right now. ATT has cheaper plans with 7PM nights and if I understand right all ATT contract will be honored by Cingular after the merger and ATT customers get the benefit of the Cingular towers.

So I guess my question is what are the advantages of going with Cingular over ATT?

I am out of my Verizon contract and have been with them for seven years and looking for other options. I live in Houston and am also looking for any info on GSM coverage here.

Thanks

There are still some good reasons to go with Cingular over ATTWS. For one, our m2m calling area is larger, and nationwide, not local. We are also the only carrier with rollover. Our handset selection, while similar, is more diverse. 7 pm nights is free only on certain plans with ATTWS, yet is available as an option on ALL Cingular plans. Our N&W minutes are also nationwide.

GSM Coverage on Cingular in Texas can be seen at:

If there are specific zip codes you have concerns about, post them here and I can give you a coverage overview.

Thanks for the response.

I am mainly concerned with zip 77373. I forgot about the rollover minutes, good point. Also any dates on the release of the nokia 6230. This seems to be the phone I am currently leaning toward. (or the 6630 on ATTWS which is already out).
Thanks

the zip code you have provided is covered by both Cingular and AT&T wireless. I work for AT&T and have already asked Nokia when they expect the phone to come out to see who is going to carry it , if it's just cingular or ATTWS as well. but if i get any responce i will post it for you

good points phonepimp. ATTWS only has 7pm nights on $59.99 and higher price points and it does require a 2yr agreement. The mobile to mobile area is national if you take a national plan. The phone does need to read att for mobile to mobile to apply, unlime Cingular who gives you your mobile to mobile minutes anywhere. Cingular also has no Ld charges ever, never ever ever.
Good stuff. Go with the Orange. What am I saying, I sell ATTWS. got to get me some Orange.

Stay w/ ATTWS... Cingular will offer Integrated plans for ATTWS to make the transition as painless as possible... I try to stay neutral in all discussions... Every provider has they're ups and downs... Honestly though I love Cingular and not just because I work for them either... even though... My job rocks!
