until cingular gets 3g deployed they are commenting on what is their most covered data product which is edge. It is allot slower then EVDO REV 0 let alone REV A. Now they will have to redo that once cingular deploys 3g unless its after sprint releases 4g (WiMax)

well they cover 200 million people so I would say that allot. Since Cingulars voice network covers 290! And their entire network will be REV A by 3Q next year.

It's actually 69 markets right now. I don't know what's going on... There haven't been any new releases since the 25th of Nov. I wonder if they are just going to launch the other 31 markets this or next week. Maybe not? Sometimes I think they won't be able to launch all 100 markets by year's end... 👀

I guess you are unaware that Cingy has HSDPA (which is faster than Rev.A) up in more markets that Sprint has Rev.A up in. Comparing your latest technology to your competitors old technology when you know that the competitor has deployed its new technology is highly deceptive.

Before I responded I went and checked it out. Yes Rev A but I am talking just evdo. As EVDO Rev 0 is faster then edge. I never said it wasn't faster then EVDO but its not anywhere in the markets the EVDO is in. When they are = then I will say sprint needs to change the commercial! And when they get wimax next year the forget it!

"Cingular To Upgrade HSDPA To 7.2 Mbps Next Year
Dec 8, 2006, 9:07 AM source: Telecoms Korea

According to an official from Qualcomm, Cingular is set to launch even faster HSDPA in 2007, possibly as early as next month. The carrier will upgrade to a maximum download speed to 7.2 Mbps to the network, though with HSDPA upload remains capped at 384 Kbps. The faster speeds will only be available to users with new data cards, just as 3.6 Mbps is only available to cards users now. Cingular's handsets are still limited to 1.8 Mbps downloads. A number of companies including Option and Novatel have recently announced 7.2 Mbps HSDPA capable c...

think about it from a business standpoint. it would really have to hurt a company's business to spend the dollars to fight something like that. i am sure vzw would rather spend the money on the millions of backup generators so our customers know we are the most reliable when a situation arises like what happened in washington rather than fight a commercial. its smart business. when noone elses phone works it proves their commercial 😉

So i'm supposed to take a verizon employees word for it? Right. I'm in washington and am suffering from no loss of service. The only customers i have talked to that were out were in the rainier area that consists of about 100 people at most. As for verizon service, I don't know as i don't sell their product. Granted i do have customers come in all year long switching service from Verizon.

If i were to assume that each of these customers were correct in their assertations to Verizons suckiness then i would have to assume the entire "network" is crap. I suppose at this point i could take a survey of customers who switched from VZW to Cingular and see what service they find more appealing. But once again what good is a biased opinio...

What about cings new radio spot about how the Samsung sync is "the ONLY phone that lets you listen to music from any source like napster or your CDs"? Come on guys, you can do that on almost any music phone. Are consumers really that oblivious?

Actually this is correct. The SYNC is the only phone where you can download tracks for Napster's subscription services. Meaning for 14.99, you can download as many songs as you want and download it to your mp3 player or SYNC. So looks like you are wrong dude 🙂

i agree, but most people don't know how to rip music... it's just easier to download them... unless you are talking about getting free downloads from like lime wire or something then that's just unethical. 😉

From another person's post I determined you meant that cing uses napster for OTA downloads. Now I see your point, but this just illustrates my point that the ads are misleading. Why mention "the only phone..." talking about OTA downloads (and not mentioning the OTA part) and then songs "from your own CDs" in the same sentence? That implies something totally different than what it actually is.

I love this, an independent research company can do a consumer report and VZW claims is legit however if they claim cingular has the fewest dropped calls then its fraudulent. Lets have a little consistency.

The problem with consistency is there is no "agency" to regulate and test networks. Until there is, it'll be left up to each company to prove what it says, or take it to court.

Cingular has already done something: they sent Donald trump in to sue Sprint because that's the carrier that Rosie O'Donnel uses. And Stan Sigman is sending winged monkeys in to Sprint headquarters to tie up Gary Forsee and bring him back to Cingular headquarters to be rebranded as Cingular Wireless. And then the former AT&T Wireless CEO will go and take over Sprint and run it into the ground and Stan Sigman will get to buy him out yet again and then the former AT&T Wireless CEO can really retire for good. So you see what happens when you mess with Cingular? Verizon, you are next!!!
