Cingular and the LG CU500

1. I was told the LG CU500 phone was a $300 phone. The Cingular store offered it to me at $159. I held off and kept coming back for a month until I got a "deal" of 2 phones for $100 plus tax. Imagine my surprise, when Best Buy offered the same phone for $49.99 and it came with accessories. I didn't get a DEAL from Cingular.

2. I received no accessories from Cingular.

3. I went to 4 Cingular stores. None have the USB cable, and you have to get the data card from a store like Target. This is to be able to interact with the computer to transfer pictures, games, and ring tones. Total price: around $60 plus tax.

4. No games came with the LG CU500 phone. NONE! I could not believe it! A "$300" phone with no games? The card n...

Please refrain from posting in the future, your post makes you sound like an uneducated fool. I, being an optimistic person, like to think that most people arent really idiots, just misinformed, but you are pushing the limits....

You still got a good deal. Bestbuy always have better deals on phones. I have purchased 3 phones (1 w/ VZ and 2 w/ Cingy) from them and all of them have been at least $100 cheaper and they should be. They do not pay anyone commission so they can pass those savings on to the customer. As far as accessories go, same go. You cannot really compare shopping online to shopping in the store. Less people to pay, more savings you receive. Why do you have to pay 9.99, because that is the price for the media package and those are the rules (plus they should have something cheaper w/o the 200 text messages. Why couldn't they activate the new phone in the future, why not just swap the sim card and viola! Cingular told me the phones were worth $3...

They do its a 1mb for $4.99. However with the 9.99 you get 400 messages and the 1mb. You basically get a bonus.

First question would be weather or not the phones were pre or post rebate at $100 or $49.99. Some locations post pre some post. If you payed $100 each and got a $50 mail in rebate on each then whats the complaint? You also would pay an additional $35 for each phone to get your sim card. All Bestbuy and Wallmart locations charge this fee.

You are right with everything you said except"

"Have fun paying to get your music on your equipment with VZW. As for your data cable, why bother. Use the card reader you got for free after rebate."

I have 2 cingular phones and one verizon phone. I have 400 songs, and several tv shows and two movies on my VZW phone, and I haven't paid for any of them. I've been doing this since 2005, before the LG Cu500 came out. You just rip your own cd's, or convert music directly from ITUNES into mp3 format. People on here try to say that with VZW, you have to pay for your music. The truth is, VZW had music phones before Cingular, and not ITUNES phones with the 100 song limit. However, you can put your own music from cd's, itunes, or use VCAS...

Interesting. I have no personal experience so i couldn't argue. When i worked for Verizon the startac had just come out so i'm a little out of date. I have plenty of customers who switch service because they claim they can't get music on their equipment without data charges. Perhaps they don't know what they are doing. 🙂 Thanks for the correction.

yeh, the LG CU500, works the same way as the LG VX8100 for Verizon, which came out in July/August of 2005. And all future VZW LG's work the same for music. You can either use a data cable and memory card to transfer, or use a card reader and memory card to transfer. But, the rest of the stuff you said was very correct. That guy, along with others love to complain just for the sake of complaining without anything valid.

We weren't talking about ringtones. We were talking about full songs. Did you ever see the word ringtone in what I said? Not trying to be funny. And I have never heard of anyone going over or using excessive airtime because they downloaded ringtones lmao 🤣

Sounds like you dealt with some morons.

We have:

Music Bundles (cable, wired stereo headset)

Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headsets (free after MIR btw)

512 MB, 1 GB and 2 GB Micro SD cards

Memory Card readers (in case you want the wireless headphones and don't need to buy the cable)

We also know how to use Cingular Video. Sounds like they did not even bother to show you how that worked. Pretty cool service.

Perhaps you just shopped at the wrong place.

what kind of idiot are you? why the hell would you buy the phone if your not going to use even half the features on it? it's like buying a ferrari without a motor.

the media net is there for a reason, just like your precious verizon have the same thing like v cast if you want the phone at a good deal. i really hope you like your best buy purchase, cause no cingular store going to exchange it if you don't like the phone, only best buy can and their return policy sucks.

i hate customers like you, they always wanted the best they can get without paying what it can do. you didn't bother checking what accesories it came with, apparently you didn't even bother to compare phones, just prices.

do me a favor and stop posting dumb shopping t...

He'll prolly be in at one of our COR or agent locations to exchange his phone in the next few days. Then one of us can proceed to beat him over the head with his "crappy phone".
