regarding the problems experienced recently with the moto v600 on the cingular network
...general consensus seems to be evenly split whether this is a manufacturuer problem or a provider problem...in either case, can we expect current v600 owners with at&t to experience the same problems once the merger is completed???? hopefully, cingular will get the nokia 6170 and then it won't be an issue for me... 😁

i can try to answer that. it was a problem with the 850 mHz mode on the phone. if you live in an area that ONLY uses 1900 (west coast, etc.) then you wont have any problems, but if you live in the east or an area that uses ONLY 850 mHz, then that's where you see the problems.

i work for AT&T wireless customer care, and we haven't had that may complaints about the V600 so i don't know if it's related to cingular, or if it was a possible bad batch of phones that were released. but i know that my own experience with our customers, isn't that bad in regards to the V600.... hopefully that helped. but i will tell you this personally also from the calls i get, it seems that some of the phones Motorola makes are pieces of crap, we had a major antenna problem with our old digital phone the V60 and the V60i that the antenna was breaking off, and that the flip was fragile, but nokia has always been very high in demand and seems to be more durable then motorola 🙂

It was a manufacturer defect that did not allow the phone to pick up on Cingular's 850 band. There was no RECALL, but Cingular has a number you can call to get the phone replaced.
