on phone scoop, the list of cingular phones is never ending.
maybe that's because a majority of them are discontinued.
anyways, on cingular's actual website there are not a lot
of phones. it is like the same one with 10 different colors. lol
any idea when cingular is gonna start having the coolest
phones again? i hope soon. my upgrade is coming up.

We are getting the KRZR K1 next week. I have heard rumors of a few other phones hitting stores within a few weeks, so stay tuned. I cant let the cat out of the bag to early... but check the forums in a few weeks. 🙂

Just from a few things Ive heard...

And dont quote me on this, but I saw this at a Cingular event...

Similar to the Samsung A707 Sync...

I believe $49.99 after MIR of either $50 or $100! So not that expensive for the quality of the handset.

Since the name change is going to take effect at some point in Q1, we have heard that the phones are going to go down in price to compete with other carriers and offer as advertised, "The coolest and smartest phone in the market."

Wonderful!
They can change the name all they want if the prices will go down! 🤣

I miss the days when you could upgrade and get the price of the phone spread out for 3 months over your bills...*wipes away tear*

dunno, but i dont see the krzr being that cheap. if the V3i is still going for 199.99, how are they going to sell the krzr for 49 bucks?

also, the lineup is getting outdated really quickly. the last phone they released was the pearl, and that phone came out a long time ago with tmobile. the treo 680 isnt anything new.

the Nokia N75 was supposed to arrive a while back, but it seems as if that one has been delayed also. the cingular lineup at that point is pretty bad once again.

i mean, isnt the Blackjack just a copycat of Motorola's Q?(which came out like 4 months ago)

On November's price sheet it was $200 after rebate. The cost on the phone is ridiculous too. Why buy a Moto when you can get a phone that does more for less? That should be Motorola's new motto.

As far as handset prices dropping. Great. Do it. The wholesale cost of handsets will have to drop though, and I don't see that happening since there's still a set amount that Cingular has to pay the manufacturers for the devices. They would have to increase commission levels for the prices of the phones to drop, and I don't see them doing that either. I hope it will, but I'm a pessimist.

The difference is the Q sucks and the Blackjack doesn't. Also, the 8525 is really nice and that's fairly new, and the Sony w810i is still better than anything Motorola has put out...

yep, another one of those glitches caused by the crappy cingular firmware. the unlocked krzrs work perfectly fine, but yet the cingular ones always cause problems.

same thing happened with the razr V3i. i kno a lot of ppl here bash motorola, but I think that it is actually the fault of cingular's firmware.

yes, firmware can have something to do with it, but it's mainly moto chipset and performance in 850 markets that is the problem. the unlocked phones may work but are they to the standards cingular has set for them... and if i'm incorrect i'm sure someone will let me know...

Yeah, I don't get involve in the carrier bashing, but cingy's lineup has been a bit dry as of late. As far as the BlackJack is concerned, you can't really blame Cingy; if it is a copycat, then that's on Samsung.

I wouldn't really call it a copycat...maybe an 'answer' from Samsung to Moto's Q. I heard the battery life is horrible, though. I was thinking about getting it myself until I heard it.

The Blackjack is pretty much a copycat, but its a good copycat. 🤣 The lineup, I will agree, has been a bit dry, but I think Cingular is just buying some time for the whole ATT merger to complete. If they are going to change the name, Im pretty sure they want to brand the phones under the new name, so thats what I believe the lineup has gone dry. When the name change comes through, I bet there will be alot of new, cool phones released. We hear of phones being updated, released all the time. Plus, you have to think... Companies sell, what sells! Just like the RAZR... when it came out, people were paqying $300-$600 bucks for those things. Its a good phone, well sorta, rather its a good looking phone. So Motorola keeps on redesignin...

That's what's up!
I feel you on what you said...people sell what the consumer buys...if the Razr wasn't so popular, Cingy wouldn't sell it...The Rizr looks nice, too...

wow, i cant believe cingular is thinking of picking up the Rizr. the phone is pretty old already, they should really move on to higher end models such as the Maxx
