Locked or Unlocked phones?

I am considering buying a unlocked 8525.
Will someone please tell me how Cingular feels about this? Do sales reps still get commission on just plans? What plan options do I have?
What are all of the differences between the locked and unlock versions of this phone? Besides price. I'd of coarse like to see if the price difference is worth it? Is there anyway to completely unlock the phone if I buy it through Cingular?
I appreciate any and all information.

We do not receive commission on the phone itself, your features accessories and contract are where we earn money. To be honest I am unsure whether or not there is a way to unlock a phone bought througg Cingular. Hope this was helpful...let me know if there's anything else I can do for y...
