🤭 Can anyone who works for Cingular fill me on on some info about the company? Which positions are unionized? How is the employee phone plan? Benefits? PAY?? Just curious because as with most people my job is my life and I dislike uncertainty.

Thanks

Working for cingular is awesome... Only difference i've heard is that ATTWS starts you off at a higher rate... (Just rumored) I don't know for sure... I personally have no complaints w/ my pay rate. Benefits rock... they really are impressive... I can't stand the union but yeah... the CWA is here.

Does Cingular currently own any PCS licenses or are they primarily Cellular (A or B) licenses? Can you tell me about the employee phone program? ATTWS has free state-wide calling on network but does charge $.07/minute long distance for calling outside of state.

My US Cellular plan was unlimited calling to anywhere from anywhere on their network. How does Cingular handle tuition reimbursement?

Thanks...

Anyone Cell provider that runs on the 1900 band has a PCS license... That's why sprint is the "All PCS network"... bcz they only have licenses on the 1900 band.

I understand that. However, the AT&T Wireless license in Wisconsin is all PCS as is the Verizon Wireless license. Cingular's is all B-side cellular license (800-850 mhz) here in Wisconsin. I know AT&T Wireless owns both types of licenses throughout its network as does Verizon. I am not familiar with Cingular's licenses and was curious as to if they owned a portion of both types. (PCS/1900 or 800-850mhz cellular).

Yes I am aware Sprint's and its affiliate's licenses are all in the 1900 mhz PCS range, which is the reasoning behind their dismal in-building coverage.

Cingular owns and utilizes both 850 and 1900... not sure what band they use in your area, or if its a combination of both.

Cingular has pretty good coverage there as of June 2004. It is a mixture of 850/1900. Has anyone looked at the new coverage maps in the last month? Now that's just pretty...

and what do you mean by "B-side" ? 850 isn't an "inferior" band... it's just different. Actually travels further and penetrates buildings better.

Oh I agree whole-heartedly. 800 (or 850 as its call in the GSM WORLD) is actually superior in many ways to PCS. Unfortunately where i sell is just north of existing Cingular 850 markets and is only AWS 1900 which does hurt when it comes to comparing the coverage. I would take 800 or 850 anyday over 1900.

Any info on the Cingular employee plan if it includes Nationwide Long Distance???

The cellular band (850/800 MHz) is divided into two sections - "A-side" and "B-side." For any given area, there is an "A-side" license, and a "B-Side" license.

Same deal for the PCS band (1900 MHz), which is divided into six blocks: A Block, B Block, C Block, etc...

Employee COU line is unlimited calling on-network. Also unlimited text, internet, multimedia, etc. There is also a monthly allowance for downloads (games, ringtones, etc.)
